I am so proud of my girl. She needs to do community service for high school graduation, and she has chosen to work at the local animal shelter. It has taken her six months to get into the two orientation classes she needed to complete, and now she finally gets to actually start her volunteer hours. She is sooo good at "socializing" the dogs. Each one loves her. She's also a trooper about cleaning up the dog's rooms (yes, that means scooping poop) and helping out in the laundry. Looking up at the exterior of the shelter and down at the floor of a dog's room, as part of Helena's photo meme, encouraging friends to look up and down 52 times in 2013.

Such good stortytelling today Rinda - these photos are fabulous! The clarity and colour are great but it is the emotion in the second shot with Clara that really hits the spot for me.
beautiful, both of them - the up for the colours and sharpness and the down for the two content faces and connection.
Just beautiful Rinda. The sky in the first is fabulous and the smile on Clara's face is heartwarming.
It sounds like she has a real talent for this! I like the sound of the community service requirement..we could do with that round here
I so agree with Sian about the community service....and pleased Clara found an area of it that she really loves.
The Honors program my son is in requires 10 hours of community service per school year. It would be nice to see it as a requirement for any student to graduate.
Great shots! I love the building your Humane Society is in!
you have good reason to be proud! i'm glad there is a push now for community service hours for high school students. my step-daughter has been volunteering at a memory care facility and it has been such a good experience for her (she is going to be a junior in high school next year.)
a very proud mum shines through in your post x
What a great thing for her to be doing.
Wonderful up and down pictures Rinda. I like that detail work over what I assume is the door of the building. It looks like Clara has a real talent for socializing the dogs.
