Look Up//Look Down #47: Thanksgiving

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving this year. In the morning, I took Gypsy out for a long walk because I knew we were going to be gone for most of the day.  I looked up and snapped a photograph of a small red biplane. Later in the day, we went to the house of some good friends to cook and share a wonderful meal. While we were preparing dinner, Jack informed us that we would be listening to vinyl record albums as our soundtrack. It was so much fun to look through his collection and stroll down memory lane. I looked down and took the photograph of the album on the turn table.  I thought the two photographs would make a unique look up//look down combination for Thanksgiving.
And here's a more conventional shot of our family celebrating together.
For those celebrating Thanksgiving, I hope it was a good one. And I was wondering about the music format you use - vinyl? digital? something else?

What a lovely family photo! I don't think I have seen you all together like this - glad you have had such a warm family time.

We still have some very old vinyl which we occasionally play....but I mainly listen to CDs....especially in the car.

We still have a collection of vinyl records but are considering getting rid of them since no one we know has a turntable to play them. Lovely family photo!

It's lovely to see you all together.

I'm reliving my youth with vinyl at the moment. My Mum always thought records were a waste of money and frowned on us buying them..so I am now visiting vintage shops and collecting my favourites.

That's a lovely family shot!

How fun that y'all listened to the vinyl records. I mostly listen to CDs in the car & Robbie listens to his iTunes. We do have a nice record collection & a turntable still, too . . . and a cassette player! :>)

Recently gave away our entire collection of vinyl to a young collector (son of a good friend of mine). I don't miss them at all.

I have some albums, cassettes and 8trscks, just nothing to play them on. My youngest Mathew (18) has a record player on his Christmas wish list this year. I saw one at Target a while back, hope I can find one.

We're all digital. We have some old vinyl but no way to play it and some old cassettes that the sound quality is horrible on (or perhaps the old tape player on the boom box is terrible)

A really fun set of up/down photos, Rinda. We love vinyl, and Carrie even owns a turntable. LOVE that photo of your sweet family.

My son has discovered vinyl and taken our turntable up to Scotland with him! So it's CDs for us.

for genuine sound you can't beat vinyl. we have a turntable that plugs into the computer so we can still play ours - Mr M plays Frank Zappa when I am not there

TTYO was recently given the turntable to take apart and see how it works ... it took TE many years before he'd let it happen!

What a great pair and a super picture of the 4 of you.

We're lucky and still have our turntable (and it still gets used) as well as a cassette player so we're vinyl, cassette & CD at home and sirius or CDs in the cars.

Lovely photo of the four of you. We still have our vinyls and Wookie has just started buying CDs again. Next house we hope to have a vinyl turntable we can use again.

Lovely pair and a gorgeous photo of you all. I listen to music on my Mac or when I am cooking I will put a CD on in the kitchen. right now it's Christmas Carols wherever I can play them!
