The View from the Place with the Gate

Some interesting guesses yesterday, but no one was correct it, so I've decided to make this a little game, as I continue to feel a bit logey.  I could have picked a panorama that was a dead give-away, but I thought I'd go for something a little tougher.  Do you know where the gate is now?  Here's a hint- my kids called the place in the center of this photo "Margarita Island."
If you're dying for another hint, check out the picture after the jump, it's a bit more helpful.
Plus you get to see the family:

Looks like Italy to me as well.

Yes, it looks very Italian to me too! Italy would fit 'Margarita', too. Is it Rome? But I didn't think Tiber island had that many trees on it... It reminds me of Florence but there isn't an island there, is there? Aaaargh!! Please put us out of our misery, Rinda!! ;-)

PS And thanks for bringing back happy memories of our visits to Florence and Rome a couple of years ago x

The gate looks like something you'd see in Barcelona: but the other picture looks more like Rome. I don't know; but it looks beautiful wherever it is.

I'm with Sian, it's beautiful no matter where it is. :o) I'm still thinking about the very cool gate picture and wanting to take my camera out to find some gates and doors to shoot!

I'm thinking European but not Italy. 2 years ago my husband cycled from Bratislava to Vienna with some friends and the landscape reminds me of photots that he took on his travels. So I'm guessing central Europe. Although that would mean you were a very long way from home!
