The Summertime Photography Scavenger Hunt is Off and Running!

On Sunday, June 1, I posted the list for this year's Summertime Photography Scavenger Hunt, and I was thrilled to see so many people blogging about it and reposting the list. You can read full details about the hunt at this post or by clicking on the photo on the left side of my blog.  And, from what I can tell, BJ takes the prize for being the first to actually blog about a find! She posted this really cute gnome in her garden and quaint village welcome.
Her entire post is at this link.  And Helena was also very quick with another gnome. I don't think I realized how popular these little guys are!
Before long, Ladykis revealed that she has a lamp post inside her house and was photobombed by her little boo! Check out her entire post here.
And can you guess who owns this tattoo?
My first find, an sign welcoming you to my home town, is up top. I actually live in a place called El Granada, but we're unincorporated and don't rate an official sign of our own. I like that this sign has the population and elevation because it tells you a bit about where I live - a small seaside town. I think I'll find an official "Welcome to ..." sign before the end of the Hunt, but I wanted to at least get on the board.
In other Scavenger Hunt news, Kathryn Trotter has set up a facebook page called Summertime Picture Scavenger Hunt 2014. It's an open page, and anyone is welcome to join, although participation there is certainly not required. Similarly, feel free to use #rindas2014photohunt on instagram. Beautifullily1 has already posted a bakery and a mascot there. You can always follow me on instagram @rinda1961. But no worries if that's not your thing, either.
Finally, my friend Deb Turtle created a blog badge for the Hunt. It's on the sidebar; feel free to grab it.  I'm very grateful to her, as the technology for that simply escapes me!
So, thanks to everyone for your enthusiasm! It's going to be a great summer hunt. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns, and remember you have until September to find as many as you can, so don't worry if you don't stumble upon a juggler right away . . .

Snort! The more I look at the list it is dawning on me that The Juggler may not be the biggest problem! The thing is though, the most fun comes from devising how and where I will find them, let alone how I will compose a shot .... and that fine line of waiting until the light is right or missing out altogether!

I am sure I am probably in the minority, but, I don't know a single person with a tattoo .....

Thanks for the mention Rinda, the gnome is called Alfred which was my late father-in-law's name too. I got it from a shop called Past Times, many moons ago. Loving your town name on the sign - sigh. I have since photographed 3 official signs on roads into our village, think there must be more though, on the lookout. BJ

I have three to post when life finally calms down here! I'm thinking the juggler will be the hardest to find, although there is some hope that one of the local festivals will have someone juggling. Tracy loves little garden ornaments, but a gnome is not one of them.

haha! we usually end up carpturing our photos during the school summer holidays. It's become a family thing lol! I hope to post on your IG thread too x great finds already. Would love a look around Ladykis's home :)

Added the blog badge and printed the list. Swamped with a huge presentation on Friday, so no hurry for me to start this week - but I can't wait to be able to play!

I'm really hoping to get to my hometown this summer & they still have the old "welcome to Wheeling" up.

The boys and I are already on the hunt for a juggler!

I discovered someone who can juggle today at work, he was amazed by how excited I was! Now I just need to convince him to let me take his photo ...

Wow, thanks for the mention. It is amazing how fast the hunt has moved away from the blog....facebook, instagram, flickr etc.
I love that you don't need a blog to participate and now it has opened it up to many others.
Thank you so much for creating this in the first place, I think there are many people all over the world going to be walking around camera in hand trying to capture an obscure moment just to fulfil a list of 21 items!

Totally excited about the list. Just popped over to copy it into my note book. Thanks so much for coming up with another set of 21 things to find over the Summer. One of my best friends is an excellent juggler. Pity he now lives in the Czech Republic!

So frustrating being at work - I can't go out hunting! Hopefully will get my first find this weekend :)

I haven't got started yet but hope to this weekend. We're like you - no welcome signs but instead the name and population signs. Got a question - does a light standard count as a lamp post?
