PPF: Welcome October!

It's been way too long since I've played along with "Paint Party Friday," and I've missed everyone! Here's my entry for this week - it's an art journal page to welcome October.  The quote around the sun from Samuel Butler reads: "Autumn is the mellower season and what we lose in flowers we more than gain in fruit."  The journaling in the flowers is part of a nursery rhyme, and it says "October's the month when the smallest breeze gives us showers of autumn leaves. October is red and golden and brown."
Got any favorite autumn quotes to share?

I know that your journal page is for autumn but it could be for spring which is what we have here down under. Great work

In New Zealand Spring is here!! As a jam maker I agree about the fruit, but the flowers at the moment are pretty delightful too. Love this page. :)

I love the light colors and wide open spaces in this page. Beautiful. And the red flowers really pop. "The woods are full of fairies; the sea is full of fish; the trees are full of golden leaves; let's make an autumn wish." Happy PPF!

"Autumn..a second Spring when every leaf a flower" Camus.
- there you are, you can keep both hemispheres happy with that one :)

Oh I love your art journal page, Rinda. Awesome colors and great autumn quotes. I'm SO glad that the heat of summer is somewhat behind us - at least our mornings are cooler.

Thinking of you lots these days, my friend!

This is a happy and sunny painting! I've always liked Keats' line: "season of mists and mellow fruitfulness"...

What stands out for me about this page is the intense color combination of the sun and the sky. That is such a perfectly Autumn sky.

Rinda, this is such a beautiful page. I love the quote/nursery rhyme a lot - fits perfectly. One of my favorite autumn quotes is by Albert Camus, "Autumn is a second spring where every leaf's a flower" - that would fit your page as well.

That quote certainly is true...we have so many apples at the moment.

had a mild freak out for a minute and thought that I had lost a few days, but then I realised you are just organised and get things ready before the month starts.... I on the other hand would be doing the welcome page some time around the 8th if I was lucky... great page...xx

We are still in the 100s around here, so I don't feel "fall" yet.
Very nice page!

Love your sunshine and autumnal flowers. I love the autumn. I have a favourite quote from a poem by Anne Bronte, the poem is called 'my soul is awakened' and it's not really 'about' autumn, but it's how I feel when the leaves are falling:

'The long withered grass in the sunshine is glancing,
The bare trees are tossing their branches on high;
The dead leaves beneath them are merrily dancing,
The white clouds are scudding across the blue sky'

I like how it feels empowering! x

Could be a sun but could be a huge harvest moon - I like autumn although I could do with a wee bit more summer at the moment.

Let's hope the flowers and fruits continue for a while.
