Taking a short break from posting of art journal pages to post a few entries to challenges. Stampotique's current challenge is to create something scary using Stampotique stamps only. So, I made this scary cute tag with their "devilish" stamp.
Like the technique? It's Tim Holtz's extreme masking, which happens to be this week's Compendium of Curiosities challenge over at Linda's Studio L3 blog. Here's another tag with the same technique:
Like the colors? They just happen to be pumpkin, eggplant and avocado, which are the colors for this month's color challenge over at the Gingerstamp Creations blog!
Speaking of Gingerstamp, and because I really can't get completely away from art journaling these days, here's one more entry for their "Gothic Elements" challenge, which closes on Halloween. I feel a little bad that I've always thought my Great Grandmother looks downright scary in the pictures I have of her. But I can't help it. I do!
Do you only have nice, sweet looking relatives? Or do you have gothic grannies in your family tree, too?

I think they were a gothic granny generation! The very old photos I have of long forgotten relatives are all very straight faced. I wonder if it's because photography wasn't the instant 'click' that we have now and they had to hold their pose for a long while. Not always easy to hold a smile for more than a few seconds without changing expression! I love your gothic work by the way!
Wonderful tags! Thanks for joining us at Stampotique Designers Challenge # 18.
lol at the idea of gothic grannies!! I don't have any photos from that far back, sadly - I'm sure plenty of my ancestors were pretty scary, though!
Great projects, Rinda xx
LOL! Your so funny Rinda! Love all your work!
gothic grannies - what an intriguing thought! actually, my great-grandma, oma, was a bit stern and never cracked a smile. i don't know how you keep all those challenges straight - i'm continually impressed.
Hehehe...well, now that you mention it, yes, I do have some gothic granny types in my family tree. LOVE the phrase you have coined for it too. I actually knew my great-grandmother so I know first hand that even as an elderly woman she was quite cute - but all of the pictures I have ever seen of her are awful. I don't recall ever seeing a photo of her smiling, but rather looking like her life was a total sham.
:o) Love this post, and your tag is fabulous too! Have a great weekend, Rinda!
i came bouncing over just to read about the gothic grannies..........what on earth could that be all about i asked myself. i doooo have some gothic women in old family photos and we have no idea who they are. some are not very old so not even grannies byt pretty scarey.

Hehe..gothic grannies? I might know one or two. fabulous stuff Rinda
Rinda, great job on the extreme masking, and I'm so happy you were able to combine the challenges (Stampotique rocks!). Both your tags are really gorgeous, and the pumpkin, avocado and eggplant shades are so perfectly used on both! Great job, all the way around!
Your gothic granny is awesome, too! What a cool, spooky journal page.
Fabulous tags, love that technique and your grandmother page is too funny! Thanks for joining us at Stampotique Designer's Challenge this week.
Too funny ... I need to find a picture of my great-grandmother because she would also work in a goth-themed design ... I loved her, but she terrified me as she sat and whacked her cane when I would miss notes on the piano. Thanks for celebrating Goth-tober with us at Gingersnap Creations.
Wonderfully gothic and fun! Great work.
Yey for gothic grannies, lol! I have some in my family too, love those photos! Great tags too! Thanks for joining us at Stampotiques challenge!
