The 2015 Summertime Photography Scavenger Hunt: The List!

In the northern hemisphere, summer officially begins a little later this month. And, with summer arrives my annual Photography Scavenger Hunt. The idea is simple. I post a list of 21 items for you to find and photograph before the autumn equinox on Tuesday, September 22, 2015. The list is intended to be challenging, but not impossible. Hopefully it encourages you to go on a few outings; always it requires you to be observant. You can read more about how items make the list by clicking on this link
For those of you with blogs, post your photographs and share your adventures in finding the items. For those without blogs, keep track of your finds in some other way (a flicker account, a shutter fly album, etc.) if you want to be able to share them with the group. (It makes it easier to share if you "label" or "tag" your scavenger hunt posts, as you do them). Once a month, I'll host a link-up so people can visit your finds, but feel free to post about the Hunt whenever you like. If you post on instagram, use the hastag #rindas2015photohunt. I think there will also be a facebook  page.
There's only two rules to remember: no fair submitting photographs taken before the start of the Hunt and have fun.
Newcomers welcome - the more, the merrier! No special photography skills are required - I love seeing everything from snap shots to fine art photography in response to the list. You don't have to do anything special to sign up, but if you're a blogger who I don't normally visit, leave me a link to your blog in the comments and I'll add you to my feedly reader. I like to gather and highlight posts now and then throughout the summer to share here.
For pictures I take on my iphone, I'll be posting to instagram using #rindas2014photohunt.
So, without any further ado, here's this year's lists:
1. A bouquet of flowers
2. An ornate door knocker
3. A person walking a dog (or other animal)
4. People playing a board game or card game
5. Architectural columns
6. A metal bridge
7. A turtle
8. Someone "plugged in" to social media
9. A tent
10. A college or university
11. A cellular tower or television satellite dish
12. A public restroom, bathroom, or toilet
13. A merry-go-round or carousel
14. A traffic signal
15. A flag pole with at least three flags on it
16. A panoramic view, taken while standing someplace high in the air
17. At least two people wearing matching outfits or uniforms
18. An overloaded truck, car, bicycle or other vehicle
19. A ticket booth
20. A natural body of water
21. A photograph of you with a sign reading "2015 Summertime Photography Scavenger Hunt". Note: you may not use a substitute for this item.
If you find something on the list too difficult, you may substitute one of the following items for any one item on the list, except for Item #21:
Alternative A: People eating outside
Alternative B: Someone holding an umbrella
Alternative C: A rocking chair
Let me know if you have any questions.

Another great list Rinda. Nothing that is making me think, 'Oh, I'll never find that!' which is always a good start. Looking forward to joining in again this summer.

Excited to start....I can already see a few 'easy' and 'difficult' items.
I've always used my camera before...but as I have a better phone camera this year....I'm hoping to catch some on that.

Hi Rinda.
How great - we have been waiting for this list.... hoping the weather here in North Wales improves somewhat from today (torrential downpour!), so we can get out and about. We have thoroughly enjoyed the last two years challenges - so trust we will be able to find them all again. Please count us in.
Take care, and thanks for putting this together for some round the world fun!
God bless.

What a great list! The turtle made me smile - Deb won't have any trouble with this one! Will print it off and start keeping my eyes open. Already thinking where I may find some of these - love it!

Really been looking forward to seeing this years list and now I have, it hasn't disappointed. Looking forward to the challenge. Thank you for arranging this again Rinda.

Yay! Most fun way to kick off summer ever! I always love that first read through of your list, Rinda. Each item is met with either a "oh that will be easy" or "that's gonna' be tricky" or "impossible find."

I'm smiling after reading Becky's comment above about the turtle. I'm going to challenge myself to get a unique turtle shot for this scavenger hunt...

Thanks so much for hosting this again. Have a great summer, my friend! xo

Great list Rinda! I can't wait to get started and hope I'll be able to get them all this time. Thanks so much for doing this.

So excited to see the list up for this year! Should we all be booking ourselves tickets to Arizona - I hear there's a lady with a few turtles we could photograph ;-)
Will be printing off the list so I can keep it in my handbag just in case I suddenly see something I think may be on there.

There are at least three things that I don't recall EVER seeing - Hurrah for alternatives!
Strangely the one that caused the sharpest intake of breath is the flagpole with at least three flags.......... I have no idea where to look for one of those. Most flag poles only have one flag on them. I have until September to prove me wrong!!!

Yippee! Can't wait to get started! Thanks Rinda.

Thanks for doing this again Rinda, it's become part of our summer routine. A good mixture of items as always, but (like Ladykis) I am wondering about three flags on a flagpole. We're cruising again this summer, so the body of water should be a doddle.

Oh something to look forward to doing again, glad I was reminded via a friend on Facebook

And the hunt is on!

Another great list, Rinda! Love it! And looking forward to work my way through the list. :) It has become part of our family summer, with both the twins and hubby helping me to get the photos done! :D

Oh hooray Rinda - this may be just the thing I need to solve my blogging (and scrapping) hiatus :-D

Yay!! I love this summer fun. I took photos last year but didn't get round to sharing so I will try and do better this time round. Great list, looking forward to getting started! Thank you for organising another year, Rinda.

I've been looking forward to this. We're off to the Canadian Rockies this summer so I think I'll find a few of these while we're away. I've already copied and pasted the list into a document and made three copies! As always, thanks for the time and effort it takes to create the list and organize us all!

Cool I've really enjoyed playing along for the last 3 years and I'll be in again this year. I don't blog any more though so I'd be happy to join a FB group if you start one

We are going to look pretty weird taking photos of a public toilet! Need to be inventive on that one

Great list I'm looking forward to hunting them down. Thanks for organizing it again😊

I can see this will be another year where i have to narrow down just which tower I use. :) I think the panoramic view is going to prove a problem unless I get DH to take me up in the bucket truck. :)

I've not joined in before, Rinda, but as we like going on trips out and I always take my camera with me I think I might be able to fulfill your list. Though the turtle and a few other items on the list look somewhat challenging ... but I like a challenge :)

oh boy, I'm a newcomer to this too and while we are just heading into Winter here in Tasmania, I'll certainly give this a go..too much fun not to!!!

I've seen your list on many blogs and I've decided to join in. This should be interesting trying to find some of these items!

Julia said...

Oh exciting! So great reading the list for the first time. A few are already jumping out at me as ones I know we have plans for and others are making me think "where the heck will I find that?" that's what I love about the hunt!

alexa said...

Lovely to see this again, and definitely going to join in again this year. I think I will be trying to find all of these very locally again: makes it more of a challenge!

Bernice Hopper said...

Great list. Perhaps this year I'll start in June rather than leaving it until late in August like I usually do!

Missus Wookie said...

What a fun list - didn't manage to get the ornate door handle during the winter hunt so will try again this summer.

BJ said...

So glad a FB pal linked to this as I had completely forgotten, I added it to my FB page (and just to my blog too) and a couple of friends said they'd have a go too. I've not been too well and have just been out for a walk round the block with my husband and saw an ornate door knocker but didn't have my camera, typical! BJ

Thank you for a fun challenge Rinda... I've just crossed off the first one on your fab list... looking forward to snapping some more :) Jan x

Hi Rinda! This got me blogging again (after an almost ten month hiatus!) Thanks for the challenging fun again this year! P.S. I'd like to put your Photo Hunt gadget on my blog sidebar - can you give me a clue how to do that? (I'm a bit tech-challenged!) 8(
