Art Journaling and Musing on Health

Way back in 2011, I selected "health" as my one little word. It served me well, as I got into shape and became stronger and healthier. I made this journal with several intentions to become healthier. I did pretty well on most of them, but there were two that I ignored: find a doctor I like and get caught up on my "tests."
Well, this year, a mere four years later, I finally got around to those two very important tasks. I found a doctor I like and trust, and she set me up with all those scary tests. I am happy to report that the mammogram, PAP, and sugar level tests all came back fine. My blood pressure, cholesterol and pulse rate are all great! Today I went to have all my odd looking moles checked and had one removed. I created an art journal page with Tim Holtz's crazy birds stamps to congratulate myself on overcoming my fears and getting these tests done. And I'm hoping that I won't let these tests go so long before I do them again. I'm wondering if I'm the only one who puts these tests off for fear of a bad result. I know it's irrational behavior at its worst, but I can't believe I'm alone. Am I?

Your two-tone crazy birds made me smile - aren't they perky? You sound very pleased and relieved to have caught up on all you meant to do. I guess over here, with our different health system where you get a routine reminder for each health check, it's easier for us to ring and make the appointment.

My mother died at 56, way too young. I've always been scrupulous about getting all the necessary tests done on a regular basis. Good for you to get it done; keep it up!

Yippee for getting those tests done!! I keep up with mine, but I did skip them last year when I was working to get in shape. All the tests came out good this year!

Pleased to hear you had them done and the results were fine. Over here we are automatically scheduled for those appointments so you have to deliberately opt out if you don't want them. We get them for free over here too so it seems silly not to take them. It seems less of a chore when you haven't had to actively go out of your way to make the arrangements yourself!

So pleased all your tests came back with good results! Yes I have all the routine tests done here in the UK, in fact, mammogram done just last week. I have to admit I hate having them done though! I am now diagnosed as type 1 diabetic, so have to keep up with other tests too, eyes and feet as well as blood sugar tests.

Those tests are automatically done here....so I go along without thinking much about it. It's the dentist that I put off!!!!

I am pretty much up to date with testing except for the gynwhich is scheduled for next week. I tend to procrastinate on those tests because one in particular hurts like heck - and the fibro makes it far worse than what the average person experiences. Congrats to you for getting it all done!

Well done for getting the tests done, sometimes putting things off is more stressful than actually doing them.
Fab art journaling, those birds are really something!

Congratulations on getting a Dr you like and getting those all important tests done. It was one of those annual tests that I get done that found my stage 1 breast cancer this year - if it hadn't been for that test we might not have found it till it was far more advanced. Please do keep up with them.
