A Photographer's Artist Date

I love the concept of the "Artist's Date," a special time you put aside to go out with your artistic self and replenish the well. It was originally popularized by Julia Cameron in her book, The Artist's Way and the idea was chosen as this month's prompt over at The Sketchbook Challenge.
Unfortunately, my life does not allow me to set aside much time to go out and play right now. But, to make the most of it, I have tried to squeeze in a couple of Artist's Dates into my schedule.  A few weeks ago, I took my camera along with me when we took the dogs to the beach and I posted some photographs here.  Yesterday, I took gypsy to visit her groomer at her ranch in the back roads of Montara.
I have always loved this stretch of road and welcomed the opportunity to spend a few moments capturing the light and feeling of this special place.
I think if I lived here, I would be out there everyday with my camera. I am just thrilled to have captured these images and am so glad that I squeezed in a little time for myself.
Have you ever been on an artist's date? Is there a special place that would be your perfect date?

I love your 'Artist's Date' beats mine into a cocked hat but at least I can visit mine at least once a week as it is on my walk down to ASDA, a lane that has no traffic just people jogging, dog walking, cycling, birds singing squirrels scampering and peace.

beautiful photos - that stretch of road with the tunnel of trees is fabulous and I can imagine visiting it regularly to capture the changing light.

I love the idea of an artist's date - reminds me of craft afternoon when I was a kid

Fabulous photos Rinda! You have captured the light so well. My favourite Artist's date is the beach - of course:)

No, I don't. I sort of grab snippets of time here and there where I can - but it is something I've been thinking of for this year.

Those photos today and that laneway is just beautiful - I've always dreamed of a long driveway lined with trees ... this would do perfectly!

It looks like a very relaxing place to spend some time.

No, I just grab time when I can too.

Your photos are stunning! I don't often go on an artist date, but I sometimes go with my friend Rosie to a museum or for a walk with no kids, which feels like the same thing. It certainly soothes the soul to have a bit of peace! x

No I don't go on artist dates. I'd never heard the term before reading your post. I can think though of someplaces that I'd like to go to just nearby and when the weather improves I'll be doing that. I love your pictures. Tree lined laneways/roads are a definite favourite of mine.

What a special road, Rinda. Your photographs are stunning. I like the sound of your Artist's Date. Certainly something to consider for 2013.
I have two places that are my absolute favourites; a beach and a forest. I must try and get to both soon.

Gorgeous trees/light/curving road combo. Yes, I do artist dates - used to well before I read of them and laughed to realize what I call Wanderings are called so many other things. Still do them - even five minutes outside with my camera in the middle of a busy day can count. But I try and book in longer trips to exhibitions etc. when I can.

These are lovely photos. I love tree lined roads. Good job. Photography is considered Art. So it was an Artists date. :)

Great pics. Yes I plan to do this more in 2013 as well - I call them my field trips - like the kids used to take in school. Hope to take one yet this month - thanks for the prompt!

It is on my list of things to do when I finish work. I'm not sure I will find such a beautiful place though.

I just love the way the trees have grown into a canopy. Lovely scenes.

Absolutely stunning, reminds me a great deal of Kentucky. I do love time alone with me, the camera and a slice of the world. It doesn't happen nearly as often as I'd like and is rare in the winter.

Stunning photos Rinda. Well done on taking the time to indulge your inner artist! Your road reminds me of the dark hedges in Ireland ( see here http://www.amusingplanet.com/2012/02/dark-hedges-in-ireland.html) which is a place I have on my long list of places to visit!
