And this baby who had had too much pumpkin festival:
But my feet were getting tired, so I decided to follow some advice I read about street photography. I found a comfortable place to sit and waited for interesting people to come to me.
The hard part was trying to capture people without too much background distraction, but I did find this pair interesting:
And my patience was eventually rewarded with my absolute favorite capture of the day:
Aren't they fantastic?!?
It was such fun to spend a good hour trying to capture good street portraits. I
took all these portraits with my 50mm fixed lens and my camera set on the "running man" setting in an attempt to be less obtrusive and not spend too much time fooling around with settings. What do you think of my street portraits? Got any favorites? And do you have any good street photography tips to share?
great captures. I love street photography even though I find it it can be so frustrating trying to capture what I see. The man in the electronic chair is my favourite.
ReplyDeleteReally interesting photos - I can see how difficult it must be to snap people on the move, especially if you are on the move too. I was keeping my eye peeled for the pumpkins though :).
ReplyDeleteHehhheee, it's hard to go past the last one!
ReplyDeleteI love other people's street photography but it's not something I've ever really got to grips with myself - I think maybe I feel like I'm intruding? I'd hate to be caught in such a shot myself, so I feel almost embarrassed to photograph others - does that make sense? But I wish I could get over that, because the results others achieve (yourself included) are fab x
ReplyDeleteI think Mel explained what I tend towards thinking too. I adore and admire the street photography (like these wonderful examples!)I see on blogs and in magazines, but somewhere in the back of my mind I always have a feeling that I wouldn't really want to be caught in a shot myself. I'm quite a private person really. Maybe I should just be brave and ask a few subjects and see if they agree and take it from there!
ReplyDeleteThat last couple is priceless on so many levels.
ReplyDeleteAll the pictures are so interesting. I think I would be a bit like Mel and Sian and be kind of hesitant but I don't know. We are going to Hereford Food Festival on 27th and I am taking my camera so I will try.... I know but I am getting so much better that I have to push the envelope more so I will try.
ReplyDeleteI'm fairly hesitant about street photography as well....except at events of this kind....when people are at events like this they tend to expect photography and usually don't mind.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite is actually the baby....love that face.
Looks like a lot of fun. I just sent you two links to articles about street photography I came across recently. You may have already seen them, but I found them both interesting.
ReplyDeleteI love the baby and the woman with her doggie is a great shot.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are each unique and super Rinda!
ReplyDeleteI am a point and shoot kinda girl...in fact yesterday I was driving into a wicked looking storm and got so excited I was snapping pix without really looking much (posting a couple on Wed)
I like the idea of letting people come to you...keeps you stead and relaxed ... people watching can be very entertaining!
thank you for sharing these
oxo
they are all super photos and capture the atmosphere of the event. I particularly like the chap in the mobility scooter and the woman with the dog.
ReplyDeleteGreat pics Rinda...like a few of the others, I tend to feel as if I'm intruding too
ReplyDeleteAlison xx
No I don't do it either, I feel so conspicuous and intrusive. Your photos are great and really capture the event. My favourite is the baby, I would cry if I was dressed like that!
ReplyDeleteI try it every now & then but usually with a zoom lens so I can stay at a distance.
