PPF: Welcome October!

It's been way too long since I've played along with "Paint Party Friday," and I've missed everyone! Here's my entry for this week - it's an art journal page to welcome October.  The quote around the sun from Samuel Butler reads: "Autumn is the mellower season and what we lose in flowers we more than gain in fruit."  The journaling in the flowers is part of a nursery rhyme, and it says "October's the month when the smallest breeze gives us showers of autumn leaves. October is red and golden and brown."
Got any favorite autumn quotes to share?

  1. I know that your journal page is for autumn but it could be for spring which is what we have here down under. Great work

  4. I love the light colors and wide open spaces in this page. Beautiful. And the red flowers really pop. "The woods are full of fairies; the sea is full of fish; the trees are full of golden leaves; let's make an autumn wish." Happy PPF!

  13. Rinda, this is such a beautiful page. I love the quote/nursery rhyme a lot - fits perfectly. One of my favorite autumn quotes is by Albert Camus, "Autumn is a second spring where every leaf's a flower" - that would fit your page as well.

  30. Love your sunshine and autumnal flowers. I love the autumn. I have a favourite quote from a poem by Anne Bronte, the poem is called 'my soul is awakened' and it's not really 'about' autumn, but it's how I feel when the leaves are falling:

    'The long withered grass in the sunshine is glancing,
    The bare trees are tossing their branches on high;
    The dead leaves beneath them are merrily dancing,
    The white clouds are scudding across the blue sky'

    I like how it feels empowering! x

  34. Could be a sun but could be a huge harvest moon - I like autumn although I could do with a wee bit more summer at the moment.

    Let's hope the flowers and fruits continue for a while.
