Grungy Monday: Fluid Medium Resist

Linda, over at Studio L3, is running a weekly Tim Holtz challenge called "Grungy Monday. "  This week's technique involved stamping with fluid medium and then inking over the image with distress inks.  The fluid medium acts as as a resist to give you some cool effects.  Tim also cut out foam stamps, but I justed used a couple that I had laying around, including a medallion and an Easter Egg. The medallion card is a bit of a tribute to a fabulous card maker, Karen. She makes clean, classic cards. You can check out her blog here.  For the Easter card above, I use a duplicate ATC from my stash. I channeled another one of my favorite card makers, Jacky, on this card. You can tell by the layers.  Her blog is at this link.
When I was looking through my Easter stuff, I also found a large paper pieced chick that has been in my stash for years.  I decided that today was the day to use it.  So, I made this very "cute" card:
It certainly doesn't scream Tim Holtz, does it?  LOL!  Oh well, I actually kindof like it.  Which card is your favorite?  Do you have any favorite card maker blogs to share?

Karen's cards are always a standout for me - you have paid wonderful tribute to both Jacky and Karen today :-)

Hands down, the best wishes card wins my vote, but then, I'm partial to those colors... I'm wearing them today!

The medallion card is so beautiful, but I love the little chick.

You always manage to put everything you have learned to such good use!

Apart from the ones on "our" list, I have to admit I don't read any card making blogs. Maybe that's why I can't make them?

I actually kind of like your chick card as well....so you definately can do 'cute'!!
Kath-allthatglitter.blogspot.com is one of my favourite cardmakers....a very talented lady.....she's a great fan of Tim Holtz....uses a lot of his stuff.....but not a hint of grunginess anywhere....shows a different way of using it all.
And thank you very much for your tribute today.

I like them all but the colors on the medallion really speak to me. I think the chick is sweet and I like the rabbit too! I follow so many card makers and I love them all. Amazes me how much talent there is out there..Donna

I LOVE Tim Holtz products. Your card turned out so cute. I'll have to check out that technique, sounds pretty cool.
Thanks for the links, I'll have to go check them out I always love a good challenge. I was going to mention Stampboutique' Designer's challenge but I see that you already have the button on your side bar.

Thanks so much for the kind words. Although I like the Best Wishes very much, I have to say that cute chick is my favorite! I, needless to say, read a lot of cardmaking blogs. Here's one I just found recently. It's called "inspired by" and Jill used a card made by another artist to inspire one of her own. She uses a lot of Faber Castell products which I'm just now exploring.

I don't think it is at all about screaming Tim Holts, but just doing what he does in our own style! You mastered this technique and so tweet it is! Love this!

Well, I can't pick a favorite because they're ALL fabulous, Rinda! You always use color so wonderfully, and you created three fabulous and wonderfully diverse cards for GM02. I do love the little chick-- it's cute without being "icky" cute, and the resist looks great on all your pieces.

I find it hard to pick a favorite as well. I like Jacky's cards, but I don't really seek out card blogs, I just make them:)
