Pick a flower, any flower

When I took a walk near Pillar Point the other day, I came across this field of flowers.  I was thinking these were Queen Anne's Lace, but I'm not 100% sure.  Anyway, I took several photos from different angles and using different fstops.  Didn't end up loving any of them, but I'm really not sure why - probably because I'm not sure what look I was trying for.  Anyway, these fit the prompt for Shimelle's class on experimenting with different shooting options for flowers.  I might repeat this prompt on our bougainvillea out front, but in the meantime, I'd love feedback on which flower you like best and would love to know what the real name of this flower is!  Remember you can always click on a photo to enlarge it.
Thanks!

My favorite is the first one - I just love the colors and the "bigger picture" composition. I would have thought Queen Anne's Lace as well from a distance, but from your close-up I'd say clearly it is not - not sure what it IS though...

I like the first one best. Not sure what the flower is called, but it looks very like something we called cow parsley when we were children

I really like the feel of the first photo!

Rinda I like the cropping on shot 4, the colour and composition of 2&3 and 1 gives great perspective of the whole field. Like we discussed in the forum, it depends on what you want to show. I'm a fan of the abstract or different angle when it comes to flowers and shrubbery - but then, that is not what you want when you are trying to capture a moment or a holiday or a general feel of the environment.

Hi Rinda, they are a wild variety of Yarrow.
These photos are gorgeous!

They look like yarrow to me as well. I like the first shot best as I really like the background behind showing.

The color, contrast and composition are all great! I like each one for different reasons. Well done!

I like the first one best, too, because it shows so much of the landscape and yet the flowers are "front and center."

These photos are all so beautiful. I especially love the first one because of the angle & the open meadow behind!
