Do you Christmas journal?

Every year when I put out my Christmas decorations, I take out my Christmas Journals and flip through them. I decided last month not to do a journal this year, and, after flipping through my journals, I kindof regret it. Because I love these so much! The box contains 5x7 art journal style cards with all kinds of Christmas memories created in Shimelle's 2006 Journal Your Christmas class. The yellow journal contains instagram photos from 2010 (in a December Daily format) and the 2009 journal contains a bunch of Tim Holtz style tags with journaling about finding the joy in Christmas with teenagers (instead of small children).
Last year I made a "December Daily" that really focused on a photo a day and captured our life in December. No matter what format I have used, I find that I am really glad that I did it. And I will definitely do one next year. What about you? Do you Christmas journal?

  1. I started to do December journals in the past but never finished them, so for the past several years I haven't even bothered. I do love that you pull your past journals out each year! And I always admire journals that I see my friends working on. It's not really too late, you know? You could still pull something together!

  2. I'm like you & journal some years & not others. This year I'm not journaling, but I do have a mini-album I made this past summer that I'll add photos to at the end of the month. Your post reminds me that I want to pull out our previous journals & enjoy a read through soon!

  3. This is the 11th year for me, and I'm never sorry. The last year or two, I added the pages to my Project Life album, but this year I'm back to a separate journal. So far it's a December Daily---but I reserve the option to skip a day or two if need be.

  4. Even though some years I find it a bit of a chore making the album....like you I love looking back on them so much it is definately worth it....and like Karen I don't feel the need to document every day.

  6. I am the same as you, I journal some years and not others. My first JYC class with Shimelle was 2005, 10 years ago! I have alternated between JYC and December Daily too. I am not doing a journal this year, but adding more years to my 'Master' Christmas album - this year 2005 to 2007.

  7. I agree with everyone's comments. The December Daily community has grown , I often read referrals about Shimelle's Journal Your Christmas. There can be so much pressure to get it right, do it right. For me I often get SO paralyzed with scrapping anxiety, I don't do anything. I love Christmas & I'm doing a sort of blend of JYC & DD. As Deb said, it's not too late - you can journal the first part using this post :) but what ever You decide, it will be the right decision.

  9. These look lovely, so tactile - they must be a joy to open and remember ... I usually do journal in December, but this year following my fall I probably won't be. Even digital work at the computer is too painful after a while. But the experience of missing it makes me determined to do it next year :). Perhaps its not too late yet ...

  10. I didn't this year and am aware I'm missing moments. I'm planning on doing some memory journalling for all of us.
