Photo Pairs: Mare Island Beauties
It's been too long since I played along with Helena's "Photo Pairs" meme. Blame it on overwork; blame it on lack of camera time. But last Sunday I took a hike at the Mare Island Nature Preserve in search of a metal bridge for the 2015 Summertime Photography Scavenger Hunt, and I came across these two beauties. The top one is fennel (I think - it sure smelled like it); the bottom one is an artichoke. They capture the wild beauty of the Preserve. I'll post my finds for the Hunt soon! In the meantime, pop over to Helena's blog and check out the rest of this week's pairs.
Both are lovely. I especially like the composition and focus of the first one.
ReplyDeleteboth beautiful and I suspect smelled great too
ReplyDeleteWow, look at the vivid colour of the bottom one, beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI never knew artichokes had such pretty flowers - great close up. ... Mary-Lou
ReplyDeleteWow - I've never seen an artichoke bloom. SO pretty!
ReplyDeleteNice! Like the bottom one especially. It reminded me of my Dad telling me thistles and artichokes were related "Well, stands to reason - if you ate a thistle, you'd have one..." (A hearty choke!)
ReplyDeleteWhat a really fabulous pair. The colours and textures are amazing.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures and interesting to see the artichoke flower.
ReplyDeleteI am now thinking that all the 'thistles' that I notice growing around here are actually artichoke flowers...that makes much more sense!!..my lesson for today...so glad I stopped by ;) xx
ReplyDeletebeautiful photos...the fennel looks lovely against the blue sky
ReplyDeleteGreat pairs! This is the first week I've posted pairs in a long time, too.
