Each summer, I enter the scavenger hunt with great plans to get amazing photographs of each item, but, as I blogged last month, sometimes you just have to grab what you can when you can because the best laid plans can go astray. So, recently, when I was at the vet with my dog, I snapped this picture of very cute turtles on a switch plate for item #7. I almost posted them recently, but I'm glad I waited because last night at the humane society I met "Thumbelina."
She's a red eared slider turtle and much more what I had in mind when I put the item on the list. So, I'm really happy I didn't "settle" for the switch plate turtles!
Now it's your turn to share a story or post about your scavenger hunt adventures. It can be a new post written for today or a link back to something you've already posted. Do try and go visit a few other hunters and leave a comment with some blog love!
And remember, there's still plenty of time to join the fun and complete the Hunt. Summer does not officially end until Sept. 22!

Thumbelina looks a bit cross, but a good find for the hunt. Thanks for organising this, it is as always, tremendous fun.
I know exactly what you mean about deciding whether to post what you've got or hold out for something else! I have a few in the bank that may make the haul, but I still hope for better opportunities. Glad you got the kind of turtle you were looking for, but I think your ornamental ones are adorable and quite unusual!
Remembered the link-up this month and have been waiting for you to post, oh so eager that I am! It's 4pm here in the UK and I've nearly cracked the list this year, just those elusive flags, hopefully not as elusive as the birds on a wire from last year!Adore both of your turtle shots, you have to take what you can get these days. Always a pleasure, BJ
I'm like that with the dog on a lead - I have several but am waiting for a great one
I have a similar photo, but I'm quite sure I can find the real deal before the scavenger hunt ends! Thanks, as always, for hosting this. It's so much fun. Not only am I looking for this year's items, every time I see an item from an earlier year, I'm reminded of how much I've enjoyed them all.
I'm definitely holding out and not settling.....for now anyway! I have a turtle I can use, but would rather find the real live variety if I can. Your switch plate turtles are very cute.
You just reminded me that I actually have a light switch cover with turtles on it! :o) (big surprise, eh?) As always, thanks for hosting us, Rinda. xo
that turtle is another one worrying me, great shot. Thanks for hosting this again
I've posted things as I've found them but they may not make the final cut! The flags will be my hardest one this year I know but trust me I am keeping my eyes open!
Thanks again for hosting this Rinda - it's such a fun project for the summer.
Posted a huge post today with my finds from France! The family really enjoy joining in and looking out for things for me to photograph. Thank you again for organising this and I like your turtle photo!
I think that if you get more than one chance to snap one of the items you should take it. I have two metal bridges two body of water pics and two cellular tower pics - and there could be more if I see better ones. I like the choice that some items give while at the same time I really dislike the ones I can't find LOL
What a great turtle photo! I had FUN again this month & found 20 items, including the three that eluded me last month! :) Thanks for the INSPIRATION!
I'm so impressed with what BOTH turtles you found, because I think the weirder and more unique the interpretation of the prompt is, the better. Of course, the real turtle is simply adorable.
Beautiful switchplate but Thumbelina is gorgeous :)
I have a turtle in mind, but like you I'm open to second thoughts!
Thanks as always for the fun
I have multiples for several of the items, I share most of them as I go along, and then I'll pick the best/my favourites for a final round-up in September.
I love the tiny turtles! I have a couple doubles of things in my post as well.
I have not been around much but I carried the Scavenger list around on my recent travels... will share some of my finds in a post soon :) It's like a tradition now!
I like the switch plate turtles just as much as the real turtle! I think I finally need to get my act together and dig out all the photos that I took for this scavenger hunt. Of vourse I didn't find all of them, but so far it was fun. Maybe a post at the end of August?
I know what you mean about settling or not settling. A few of mine are not the amazingly set up shots I'd have liked ... but, like you say, you take what you take when you see it. I've also been in the position of putting off taking some - to save a few categories for when I head to London soon!
Oh Rinda! With your turtle photos you have, I think, settled the controversy of turtle vs tortoise and I will have to get back on the hunt for a proper turtle! Haha! I have photographed two of the alternates since I don't think I'll find #4 - People playing a board game . . . However, although so far #'s 13 and 19 have eluded me, I will keep looking. Left my latest post in your linky which includes all of July's finds. Fun, fun, fun!
I am a bit late joining in the party but I have just posted my first 6 items on the list on my blog. It looks like I have quite a few folks to visit!!! :)
I finally had to resort to a substitute of yours [a rocking chair in exchange for a ticket booth]....but I finally found 'em all from your list!!
Mine's been posted and I added the hyperlink on your Linking Tool above.
Thanks for this great hunt! It was a challenge...but FUN.
PS...love the turtle switch plate.
Thumbelina looks just a bit cross for having her photo taken. I've been spoiled for choice with some of the items on your list and it has been a difficult decision on which photos to post but that is part of the fun, I think. I've just written up a post and added the link. Really enjoying the challenge :)
