#15 a flag pole with at least three flags
Ah, the best laid plans . . .
Today I am hosting a linky for everyone who is participating in this year's summertime photography scavenger hunt. Please link directly to a post about the hunt . . . it can be a new post or a post from earlier this month. And please try to go visit a few of your fellow scavenger hunters and leave a comment.
Yes, well, back to the well laid plans. . . .
there is a beautifully picturesque light house just up the coast from where I live and most days there is a flag pole with four flags on it (you can read about the light house and see the flag pole here). So, today, in anticipation of this post, I got out my big camera and went to take some photographs.
And. . . nothing. Not a single flag on that flag pole!
So, I'm sharing a back up photo I took with my iphone while at the baseball stadium last week. There's a flag pole that actually has five flags on it (one for each time in the division), and now I'm really glad that I snapped the photo when I noticed it.
Because that's the way the scavenger hunt rolls.
Grab the photos when you find them because you never know when your well laid plans will flop!
So far I've found 7 of the 21, which is right on pace to finish by the end of the summer. For those of you who asked, it's definitely not too late to join. You have until September 22 to find all the items on the list, and that's plenty of time! For all the rules and to see the list, click on this link.
What have you found so far this month? Please share below.
so true - best to grab an item when you can - I'm sure there is a motto for life in there!
ReplyDeleteGood catch on the 5 flags flagpole. Your comment about grabbing an item when you can made me smile this morning - it made me think if you see something in Costco that you want get it then because they might not be stocking it next time you're there.

ReplyDeleteMy link has more than 100 characters, and the linky won't take it. I'm going to link to the blog itself, but it won't stay on the post about the scavenger hunt. I remember I had this problem last year. Usually Linky works just fine for me. And then I didn't link it correctly, but oh, well, it works for now.
ReplyDeleteGood catch on the flagpole is right! I've seen one with three flags but there was no way I could capture it as we whizzed by on the Ohio Turnpike. I think that might be the hardest item this year.
Great find - I actually "completed" the hunt with 21 photos in June & have them in my blog post for today, but I had to "cheat" a little on the flags. :) Really enjoyed the list & am going to try to find them all again in July. Thanks for the INSPIRATION!
ReplyDeleteCarrie called me one night and said, "I have great news for you. I found a pole with THREE flags on it!" :o) Doug and I ventured out in the heat last weekend and I was able to check that item off my list. I still need to blog about it, but that is definitely one I hadn't expected to find.
ReplyDeleteDamn that lighthouse! Lol! But your stadium one is just as good. Only got two so far - it's been a busy June with exams and prom so haven't had the time to focus on it. Need to pull my finger out now we are in July! Will link up later this week. Hope you're enjoying your Summer x
ReplyDeleteI did a quick round up last week. Great advice to snap something when you see it, because you can never be sure that the opportunity will come again!
ReplyDeleteWell, you never know, that lighthouse might still come up trumps and then you can replace the photo! I've made a start, but hoping to get quite a few more whilst we are in France. Holidays are always a good time for me to capture loads from the list!
ReplyDeleteI haven't managed a single shot yet. It seems my camera and I are taking an unexpected break from each other. Just can't get myself in the right frame of mind...
ReplyDeleteslowly starting to find some, that flag one is worrying me!
ReplyDeleteDid not realize until I did my post that I am halfway through! Very impressive flags ;)
ReplyDeleteYou are so right about grabbing the opportunity when you can, Rinda, but first I must learn to grab my camera first! Missed the perfect chance for one of the more elusive items yesterday. Great photo of the flagpole - another item that eludes me. I think I may have to visit a nearby marina. Thoroughly enjoying the challenge.
ReplyDeleteLove the tent! BJ
ReplyDeleteJust typical! I think the flagpole may be a tricky one for me. Completely forgot that there was a metal bridge on the list. We drove over the Clifton suspension bridge on our way to Wales!
ReplyDeleteThat is certainly true, to take the photos when you have the opportunity and don't wait for it. So far I got quite some of the photo during our trip up the coast, but I still haven't sorted through all the pictures, so have to wait until I post them. And I'm pretty sure I won't get all of them this time.
ReplyDeleteLinky done. :)
ReplyDeleteI think the flagpole will pose a problem for me ... but I'm still looking!! ;)
Well, I thought the flagpole was going to beat me ... but I found one last week! I'm now just sifting through my holiday photos and sorting out all my hunt 'finds'!
ReplyDeleteAnd, absolutely, the hunt demands you snap it when you see it! And that's what I love about it: it *makes* you make the effort!
Thanks Rinda! :-)
