Welcome to the second link-up for the 2013 Summertime Photography Scavenger Hunt!!! Here's your opportunity to share what you've been doing on this year's hunt and to check out what everyone else has been up to. Please add a link to a specific post about the Scavenger Hunt below. Your post can be anything - a post about your favorite find; a story about your adventures while hunting; etc. Feel free to link to a post you've already done if that works best for you. Also, let us know if there's a way for us to see all your finds so far. For example, you can see all my posts by clicking on this link. Finally, please try to visit at least 3-5 other posters. I will host another linky at the end of August and at the end of the hunt on September 21. This is also a great time to ask any questions you might have (just leave it as a comment, and I'll get back to you straight away).
My share today is titled "Tilting at Windmills." When I put windmills on the list this year it was partly because I've always been fascinated by windmills - both traditional ones and the newer wind turbines. It was also to force myself to go visit the windmills in Golden Gate Park. It was so much fun to finally photograph these wonderful structures. The top one is the North or Dutch Windmill and the bottom one is the South or Murphy Windmill. It was a dreary day, so the light was not what I hoped for, but I did manage to get the above photos which show you the windmills in all their glory.
I also took these photos which I think do a better job of capturing the mystery and mystique of the windmills.
And, finally, two instagram shots:
I really prefer the second and third sets over the first set. What about you?
Please add your linky below:
I think they are a marvellous set of windmills Rinda - I am particularly drawn to the first shot in set two, that angle/perspective is very interesting.
ReplyDeleteI love them all. There's something special about a windmill.
ReplyDeleteI'm working on a post with what I've got so far so I'll link up in a little while.
I really like the middle set the best - it holds the delight and beauty of a windmill. I've put all my contributions so far on to one page on my website - but have made sure it is clear where they are on the blog entry for this morning. Thanks for the fun I'm having trying to find pictures with an oblique twist on the subject!!
ReplyDeleteMargaret
I like them all! I think I like the 1st and 3rd sets best. Like the first ones as they show the windmills in context. I saw a windmill on my way home yesterday as I was diverted, but couldn't stop and photograph it as I had a dental appointment! Got to go home that way another day and stop and take the photo :)
ReplyDeleteI like the middle set - glimpses through trees are always fun. I also like wind or water mills - so fascinating and full of history.
ReplyDeleteLittle E says that when you spot a windmill you have to shout "Windmill!" as loudly as you can..they are one of his favourite things. There'll be lots of shouting today then :)
ReplyDeletemany thanks for the list..spotting a scavenge or two or three really added something to our holiday photo taking
I like the second set!
ReplyDeleteI like the perspective of the second set but I love the very last photo. I am sharing mine as a post today then will be having posts for both the Chosen One and SweetGirl. I have added pages like mine for them to my blog. I found my windmill a month ago but have yet to figure out how to photograph it.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed hunting for a windmill this year but didn't find one as fabulous as yours! Great shots!
ReplyDeleteI worked on my photos last night some & will have a post ready in a few days with my finds from our weekend in Abilene.
WINDMILLS!! I am with Little E on this. It simply has to be done. Besides I like shouting it out LOL
ReplyDeleteI tried to decide which pictures I liked best and could not make up my mind
Oh glad I popped on here today as I find the next link up. Just back from hols where I nabbed the last few elusive snaps. Still need to get someone to take a piccy of me and a craft tool and perhaps update a few previous finds for better ones but more or less all done now. Really enjoyed this challenge thanks so much and your windmill is FAB! BJ
ReplyDeleteWhile the full on shots are nice, the second and third sets are definitely more evocative. Love that first one of the second set.
ReplyDeleteAlthough they are all wonderful shots, I especially like the first one.
ReplyDeleteGreat windmills, think I'm going to struggle with that one :)
ReplyDeleteGreat set of windmills ~ I like the one with the trees best. My windmill shot was pure luck!
ReplyDeleteGreat set of windmill photos - I know where there is a windmill, I just have to make the trip!
ReplyDeleteI love the two middle ones because they show the atmosphere so well. The Instagram pictures are great as well - I can pretty much understand your sentiments about your pictures.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that I didn't know that there are windmills in Golden Gate Park. I've never really explored this part of SF.
Now these were the type I was looking for! They are glorious and beautiful, nice find
ReplyDeleteThey are brilliant - well worth a visit so what a great excuse to go.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the Windmills, Maria! From my investigation most of the windmills in my neck of the woods have been transformed into Camera Obscuras (Dumfries) or Dovecots. However - my geocaching friends pointed me to an existing windmill in Fife and I assume I'll try to get there when my mum visits.
ReplyDeleteAs for my linky - I linked to the photos from London, not to the latest update, purely because I didn't think I'd manage the updated photos until today but wanted to link with the link party. :)
I love windmills and apparently we have a proper old fashioned one not far away so I will go on an explore,
ReplyDeleteJo xxx
I like the photo partially filled with leaves the best. I think it holds more mystery. I'll be back later to link up and have a read of some of the other posts.
ReplyDeleteI like the 3rd shot out of the entire set best. It's an interesting perspective. There is just something special about windmills. We'll be day tripping to one in a couple of weeks.
ReplyDeleteJust like Don Quixote! I really like the sepia - tinged one.
ReplyDeleteGreat windmill photos! I'm really following in my wife's footsteps. She is Margaret of glitterandglue. It's not too late for me to join in with the scavenger hunt, is it? Do I just submit my link to join in? Kind regards, John-W.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had any luck finding windmills in my area. I think I have a mug with one one it. :-)
ReplyDeleteSuch amazing windmills! I really love the art shots at the bottom but the first two give you a sense of size and grandeur. Not having much luck with my windmill hunt but I have linked up my candles today :)
ReplyDeleteFantastic set of windmill photos. so far real ones have eluded me. Maybe I need to visit Legoland - I'm sure they have one there.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful windmills. I love the different aspects
ReplyDeleteLinked to one post of scavenger hunt items. You can find more by searching my blog for the tag #summertimescavengerhunt if you wish....
ReplyDeleteStill have the open air market to capture. I have lots of choices, but no opportunity yet.
Now time to check out all the other links...good thing I am on a caffeine buzz right now.
Love the real windmills and all the different views(I could only get a fake windmill garden ornament).
Great set of pictures Rinda. I think I like the 2nd set best. I tried to put a link up but it wouldn't take. Probably because I was late. So I've put my post at the top of my blog.
ReplyDeleteI'm very late with my July link-up - now waiting for August's for a proper catch-up!
ReplyDeleteLove the windmills - we spent many years in Holland and I've visited all sorts, including mills to pump water, generate power, grind cereals ... fascinating!
