Steampunk: Glue It Tuesday

Artsyville hosts a wonderful place to share your "cut and paste" projects called Glue It Tuesday.  I first discovered Aimee's blog through Paint Party Friday - her paintings have a very definite style which intrigued me, so I started to follow her. After seeing my posts for the dry art journaling class I took, she mentioned GIT and I decided to play along. 
I love how GIT gives me the freedom to use my huge stash of collage elements without worrying about whether I should be creating artwork that includes only my original work (drawing, painting, photography). So, thanks Aimee for opening the GIT Lounge every week. To see this week's entries, click on this link. 
My art journal page this week is in my road atlas journal.  Acrylic paint for the background. Lots of random elements that came together into a page which asks "Is steampunk the odd memories of a time that never was?" You can click on the image to see it larger and in more detail. While doing this page, I realized I've become very comfortable using my watercolors to color images and that I am really close to getting rid of my markers because I really don't like coloring with them! And it made me wonder what you all use to color images (if you do that sort of thing). Do tell!

    I am very excited as this is the first comment I am leaving after installing Feedly today - Rinda, it is the way to go, far superior to Bloglovin with a set up not dissimilar to GR.

    Anyway, I'll get over myself and say that your page is very striking and if I ever need to colour a portion of a layout I use the colour picker in photoshop. Easy peasy.

    Love your take on steampunk,Rinda.
    I tend to use markers to colour...but do like distress inks as well.

    Oh, I really like this! I'm like Amy and use PSE's colour picker if I want to colour something or change the colour.

    Oooh I love this! It's a style I admire but struggle to achieve myself! I'm much too OCD for random techniques & even distressing distresses my sense of symmetry & balance! I'll keep working on it though!! As for colouring I have acrylics, chalks & markers....& I love Tim Holtz distress markers, they can give a lovely watercolour effect! :D

    i love using water colors too...although I haven't used them for any if my glue-it collages yet. Nicely done!

    I love your boxy painted backgrounds! and GIT is lots of fun. I think it allows you to free up your creative mind a bit and not be so rule fast and heavy.
    I have always wanted to feel comfortable with markers, but I don't. I use watercolor or oil pastels. Markers and colored pencils always remind me of grade school and it feel constrictive and stiff to me. Must work on that I think.

    how fun! I'd love to color with watercolor, and trying my best to learn how. I generally use my Micron pens (#8), and have tried Copic - though they're so expensive! {:-D

    Love the GIT page you did, Rinda. I very rarely "color" anything and that's a shame, really. Remember the face-swap thing that Mel did last year? I used colored pencils and LOVED the coloring process! I colored all 12 pieces at one sitting, I was enjoying it to much.

    wonderful glue it tuesday page! great images and it looks like a lot of fun to do! i use all sorts to color, from paints to pencil to markers. i only have a few markers though so you can send your discards my way, LOL!

    Fun page - steampunk is interesting isn't it? Saw loads of costumes at a Con I went too, fascinating to see what they'd used to create them all.

    I colour mostly with distress or other inks, occasionally with brushes but more often with foam applicators. Have coloured pens for journaling and doodling but rarely colour.

    What a fun page! I love all the elements. I use Copic markers, watercolors, water color pencils, and colored pencils to color images. I just bought six Tim Holtz Distress markers and a few Gelatoes and you'll see images colored with those shortly.

    I love the sound of the Glue It Tuesday Lounge! That's where I feel like I'm sitting back and relaxing now, as I look through all of the links. I agree with you that collage, and especially Aimee's link party in particular, is a great way to go through, consider, and use all of my various collected scraps. Great page, Rinda!
