PPF: The Reed in the Wind

The quote from Aesop's Fable "The Oak and the Reed" reads, "The little reed, bending to the face of the wind, soon stood upright again when the storm had passed over." It's a mixed media work - background in acrylic paint over textured gesso. The feathers are drawn in ink and painted with acrylic paint. I added one real feather.  The house is made from a photograph I took of a torn paper background, and the door/flower is from a Czech postage stamp I purchased during our travels. This art journal page was inspired by the Ode to Nature class, which is encouraging participants this week to use our sketchbooks and field journals to make pieces of art in our own style.  I used these feather sketches as my jumping off point. Can you spot the real feather on the page?

    Is the real feather the one over the sun???? hard top tell because they all look real... very cool effect... and I do like that collage effect also...xx

    Love the colours and texture of this piece. You have captured the floating feathers perfectly.

    it's the one on the sun. that fable is so apt for so many people at the moment, we all have to bend to weather the storms or else we break. that is what friends/family and everyone are there for, to help us through those times. i am wearing my team teal for that reason and for u too,

    Not easy to tell at first glance, but the one in front of the sun. My favourite is the one you've drawn just below it :o) A beautiful piece Rinda and such a fitting sentiment.

    When I first glanced at this, I thought leaves were blowing in the wind and then I realized they were feathers. I guess I'm thinking about autumn a lot these days.

    Bending not breaking is an important life skill. Cool use of the stamp as the door - it's a pretty stamp too.

    What a lovely combination of things to make this art. All the feathers look quite real, but I do believe either the one on the sun is the best drawn or it's the real thing! I love coming to see your creations!
