Things definitely are getting better with her, although since she's so much on my mind, she keeps popping up in my art journaling. This page is called "learning to fly," and I enjoyed incorporating some rubons and drawing on a piece of patterned paper.
But not all my faces are serious. Here's a quirky pair that I made using the water color technique I learned in the 101 Faces class. Except that I used acrylic paint instead. It was a little more difficult to get a result I liked. But of the ten face blobs I started with, these two managed to capture my imagination:
I call them Guido and Sluggo. I'm sure they have a story to tell.
Finally, my last face for the month.
It's an art journal page. Acrylic paint with rub ons. Not sure where the inspiration came from, but I ended up liking the strength and confidence in it.
Although I only managed 21 faces, instead of 29, I'm really glad I participated in the challenge and really appreciate the inspiration given by Ayala, as well as the opportunity to meet some new blog friends. And I'll definitely keep drawing faces in my art journals and other places. If you want to check out some of the other 29 Faces artists, check out this link.
And, the other paint party participants are here.

You have some beautiful journaling on your pages Rinda! Loving Guido and Sluggo!
ReplyDeleteRinda, I love your journal pages. You give us a little peak into your world which makes me feel closer to you. I like the quirky mixed with a little life.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great way to keep a journal - so personal and also colourful!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your great "Faces" with us - and the lovely journalling. I hope your young lady appreciates what a lovely mom she has (sure that, in her heart, she knows that, but it can be hard when you're growing fast...) No, don't give up on her - she is so worth the love and effort. Stand firm, pull her in close and tell her how much she is loved!
Even I am getting a bit of the "teen angst" from a certain young man - he has his "moments" for sure!
I love "Guido and Sluggo" (what names, Rinda!) and the Big Dog is so cool.
Have a great weekend! X
I just love Guido and Sluggo....though I'm a bit concerned about what their story might tell!!
ReplyDeleteYour journal page is beautiful as always.
Such wonderful faces, I really like the variety of expressions and techniques you used. And Guido and Sluggo are just fabulous! Especially love Guido's expression. He looks like an funny chap with lots of stories to tell! Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the February Faces challenge! You have such wonderful ones posted here! Glad to hear things are getting better with your teen.
ReplyDeleteThe first one is so moving. Sarah and I went through a very difficult year when she was in high school. I remember it as if it were yesterday. In the end, of course, we worked through it all and the outcome was just wonderful, but the process was hard. Never give up is exactly the right motto! (And I got to use it again with Matt when he went through even more difficult times.)
ReplyDeleteRinda ~ fun and creative art work ~ thanks ~namaste, carol (A Creative Harbor) Happy PPF ^_^ ~
ReplyDeleteGreat journalling Rinda...as parents, giving up is not an option..and you will both be so glad you didn't!
ReplyDeleteAlison xx
Great job with your faces. I think it's wonderful that you did 21. Wow!!
ReplyDeleteOh, just imagine years from now when your daughter is grown and on her own, pulling out these journals and showing them to her. It will be an eye-opener for her, I'll bet. Especially if she has kids of her own.
ReplyDeleteThose paint splotch faces are such fun. Isn't great how much character can bubble up in them?
I see carlarey has already beaten me to it. That's what I was going to say! These pages will be so meaningful to Clara years from now. I'm sure of it

ReplyDeleteSome great pages here and love Guido and sluggo... laughed at the name sluggo though cause here in Queensland sluggo is a nickname for those awful tiny swimmers that men wear... and he looks nothing like that... lol xx
ReplyDeleteI have really enjoyed seeing your faces and watching how your art work has progressed! And I love that you are journaling about your Clara and including her in your art. There's something very healing about all of that. I'm wondering, does Clara play with art journals at all? It might be a very freeing activity for her as well.
ReplyDeleteSending you love and hugs (eh-hm...and birthday wishes!!!) xo
Loved looking though your wonderful faces Rinda... your work is fabulous... so enjoyed the challenge too...
ReplyDeleteHugs

ReplyDeleteKat :-)
will you bind up a 'face book' now? tee hee...i have enjoyed visiting your faces here...especially like the background of the girl...happy weekend, rinda
ReplyDeleteBeautiful paintings, but I really love that background in the second picture! I just read your blog post about parenting! My son was the one who gave me a real run for my money. I think as a parent we want the best for our children, but they also need to find their own identity and at times the direction they chose is not the path we wish for them. Being a parent is the biggest challenge we ever face and I know you are a great mom!!
ReplyDeleteHi Maria! Your journal pages are so sweet and I love how colorful and personal they are. Your faces are great and I love that expression of the little dog!
ReplyDeleteHappy PPF! ~ Jaime
I am liking the acrylics with rub-ons. Good work, love the faces and the pups. Blessings, Janet PPF
ReplyDeleteAll faces are very original, but the last one, the dog is awesomely expressive! :))
ReplyDeleteHi Rinda! What I love about this post is the variety! Keep the great work! Have an awesome week!
