I remember reading some time ago that "green is the new black," meaning that green can be substituted for black as an all-purpose neutral. I embraced this idea because I really do like green, especially a deep, rich hunter green or a nice, dark khaki. So, when the Gingersnap Creations Blog announced green as the feature for its monthly color challenge, I decided to play along. Stampotique Originals (one of my favorite stamp lines) is their sponsor this month (their design team created these green creations), so I decided to make my green cards with Stampotique stamps.
Although I have many wonderful Stampotique stamps, I keep getting drawn back to these girls. They just really speak to my design sensibilities. These last two cards are based on the sketch at the CAS-ual Fridays: Clean and Simple Challenge Blog. The one on the left is more true to the sketch, but the one on the right is "simpler." The card up top is actually based on the sketch I discussed in my blog on Tuesday. Got a favorite among these cards? Is there a color that has become your go-to neutral? How do you feel about green?

And the winner of the February Stamp give-away is Deb Turtle! Check back on March 1 for my next stamp give-away. Deb, I'll try to get the stamps to you in time for Valentine's Day.
Woot! Way to go Mom-friend!! I'm extra glad she won because it means I might get to borrow them! :)
ReplyDeleteI like green, kraft, blue - particularly navy and white backgrounds ... they seem to be my go-to colour at the moment!
ReplyDeleteWell done Deb .. sounds like you will have to keep an eye on those stamps!
I love green...and use it a lot in scrapbooking....though less for cardmaking. It works well with so many other colours as well.
ReplyDeleteAm loving these cards...those Stampotique stamps are great....but very pricey over here.
YES!!! I WON!!! I WON!!! Thanks, Rinda. :o)
ReplyDeleteLove the cards you made and I super love green! The girl on the right is my fav. xo
Round here I am known as the "queen of green", so you can draw your own conclusions from that :) Though I have been turning back to wearing navy recently, for the first time since the 80's I think.
ReplyDeleteYes, those stamps always make me smile
I've never seen those stamps before, but I love the last one!

I think the card on the left is my faborite, I like the bit of ribbon on the left side then the ribbon the squre. I use very few neutrals so don't think I can even name one. I do like green but brighter greens. I do very much like these cards though :) (Blogger is letting me comment and I'm on a diff computer so I am thinking must be my laptop @@)
ReplyDeleteGreat cards :) I like green, especially as it was my Gran's favourite colour and I spent a lot of time with her so it reminds me of her.
ReplyDeleteThose are really great Rinda. You are off and going on your work. Very nice. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI've heard of both gray and brown as the "new black" but not green. I especially like the first card.
ReplyDeleteThis is fabulous! Thanks for taking the Gingersnap Creations challenge :)
