CK Sketch Challenge and Other Blank Layouts

I feel like I spent the day carting the kids around and then waiting to pick them up and move them to their next appointment.  It was hard to find a chunk of time to do anything big. So, I pulled out my June counterfeit kit and made some blank layouts to be filled in with photos I'm sure I will take on our trip this summer. The first blank layout (up top) is in response to the Counterfeit Kit Summer Add-on Sketch Challenge and based on a sketch from Page Maps (it's the bottom right corner sketch at this link - I flipped it to make a matching page for a two page layout).
Next up I created this blank layout based on this Shimelle Sketch for five 4x6 photos.
Finally, I just made a simple grid layout with the remaining pieces of my kit. All-in-all, I felt like I was productive in my little bits of time. What do you do when you only have 30-45 minutes here and there all day long?

  1. I am impressed with your organisation Rinda, I have tried to pre-make pages before and it wasn't successful ... your designs will lend themselves to all styles of photos and plenty of journaling!

In short periods of time I like to edit my photos on the creative front and fold washing on the less than creative front ... or vacuum, but never iron - I have to set aside a specific time for that task, otherwise it never gets done!

  2. What a great way to use up your kit, and nice take on the sketch!

When I have limited time, my project stays out on my desk. I'll pop in to the office/craft room when I can and add a few embellishments. The next day I might have time to do the journaling. Takes a while to finish a page, but I like having the time to tweak the layout to my liking!

  3. Now, that is a seriously good plan! I had a day like that yesterday too - I must have been in and out of the house about six times going to various events!

  12. that is such a great idea Rinda, I am so unorganised! It takes me sooo long to make a LO normally but this seems a great idea. Any free time with me is either spent tring to catch up on all the fabby blogs I follow or to try and read!

  13. These are awesome layouts. I have never done this before - it scares me because I work my layouts around my photos. When I have bits of time, I read.

  14. very nice, I like them all. They all look finished, aside from the photos.

I always have a hard time with layouts, they never seem to look "finished" to me but I keep moving, otherwise I'll never get anything done, lol.

  17. You're really ahead of the game! I have only ever made 1 layout without the photo....and I had the photo I wanted to use, but it just wasn't with me that day!

Have fun filling up those great layouts with summer memories!

  18. I'd say this was a good use of your spare time, Rinda! The layouts are great.

When I have small snippets of time I usually make lists or sketch out some project that I've been thinking of. Now that my kid is grown and out of the nest I don't have much of those waiting times but I remember them all too well!
