5 Things I'm Doing Right Now & Questions

1.  Winning!  I was picked as a random winner at Shimelle's blog for Happy Scrapbook Day, and I won two passes to any of her classes.  I'm holding on to them right now and will probably use them for an upcoming class.  So, keep your eye open for a blog give-away whenever the next unmissable Shimelle class comes on line.  Also, the envelope and many of the goodies in the above photo were the result of winning on Jacky's blog.  Thanks so much Jacky - I love everything in the package.
2. Planning!  Today I went to get my passport renewed for our trip this summer.  In July, we'll be in London for two weekends, the Cotswolds for a few days and Cambridge for a few days.  I love my passport.  This is the second passport I have traveled with, and it expired at the end of last year.  I love looking at all the various stamps from the places I've visited.  I can't wait to start filling the pages of my new one! Do you have a passport?  Is it well loved?  Also, for my UK friends, any recommendations for places to stay or visit in the Cotswold area?
3.  Imagining! I signed up for the 2012 Sketchbook Project, and I received my sketchbook in the mail.  I chose the topic "In 10 minutes," so that I could challenge myself to create things quickly.  Has anyone else participated or planning to participate?
4.  Enjoying!  Enjoying the view opened up by the hard work of tree cutters who cut down one of our trees and one of our neighbor's trees:
Watching them made me really happy that I had a job which kept my feet firmly on the ground!
5. Packing! We're going down to Southern California for the weekend to attend my niece's Quincenera (a Latino celebration when a young girl turns 15).  I'll leave some auto posts for you to enjoy while I'm gone.
So, what are you up to?
P.S. For those who asked about my summer reading list, you can see it in this post.

ur coming to the uk? oooh big excited, im not far from the cotswolds. what will you be doing? i would recommend bourton-on-the-water for prettiness and the model village if it's still there. i used to go as a child in fact i think i have a photo somewhere. cheltenham is beautiful for a big town and i was born there. lechlade is a lovely lil town with the big river thames going through it. anywhere in the cotwolds in beautiful really. sudeley castle is lovely if u want old english stuff. as for cambridge well there is loads going on there. id suggest a walk from grantchester across the meadows. u get the best views of the colleges from ther on a hotr summer day. dont go punting, just sit and watch for the laughs. all the parks are called pieces there. there is the antarctic exhibition with all sorts of interesting stuff to see. of course the colleges are beautiful to wander aorund if u have time.

Woo hoo! Will be in touch about your trip to England :)

I'm disappointed in my passport. I've used it to travel to half a dozen different countries at least, and only one of them actually stamped it! :(

PS Congrats on your wins xx

Great to hear you'll be in the UK for that long....will email you about the trip.
European countries don't seem to stamp passports anymore....like Mel,I've got almost no stamps in mine!!
Glad you liked the 'goodies'...and congrats on your Shimelle win.

Guess what? I live 30 miles from Cambridge ;-)
I have only been to the cotswolds once and think I stayed in Stow on the Wold but it was many, many moons ago! It really is pretty around there.
Cambridge is lovely, you will enjoy seeing all the famous colleges and you HAVE to take a punt down the river. And, who knows, you may even bump into a blog-friend .....

definitely Bourton On The Water is worth a visit though 'the world & his wife' are usually there too lol. I think you will enjoy your stay especially if you get to meet some blog friends while you're here! Im just imagining people like Mel, Jacky, Debs etc all gathering in a leafy park on a hot summers day .... grinning from ear to ear! Ok so it might rain but its my daydream so I expect it to be sunny!! Enjoy xx

Wow, you have got a schedule. Enjoy and take it easy too. Congrat on winning and I'm looking into the 2012 sketchbook project. Take care and have a great Sunday.

Yes, they don't stamp your passport here if you are only travelling in Europe which always disappoints me. My favourite stamp is from Tunisia, and we might get a Norwegian stamp in the summer becaue Norway isn't in the EU.

I'm looking forward to finding out what you decide to visit

Woo-hoo, you're really coming to UK! Like Jo-jo, I was going to suggest Bourton as a lovely (but very touristy) place to visit. They have the model village, also a lovely little Bird Garden, which is pretty, with plenty of aviaries and pens of interesting birds, plus a pond, a maze and gardens. A nice place to wander on a sunny day (but take a picnic, as Bourton prices are not cheap!).
If you have time and transport, Bibury is a sweet village, with a lovely trout river running through. The Swan does nice meals and morning coffee/afternoon tea, but again it may not be cheap. The Trout Farm is open to visitors. It used to be inexpensive, but Bibury has been "discovered" since then and everything has gone up in price. Parking is interesting there too - you may have to drive through the village and walk a bit. Still, it is a very lovely village, of soft Cotswold Stone, with gorgeous photogenic little cottages. Worth a visit.
I also live 30 miles from Cambridge (where Deb?), 50 miles from London and about 40 miles from Oxford. It's not a bad place to be, for visiting places!
I do hope I will see you while you're here - I'm so looking forward to meeting you, even if only for a coffee and chat!
