It's Raining Tim! Hallelujah! (drizzle)

There's a new Tim Holtz based challenge going on in blogland! It's being hosted by Studio L3 and features challenges from Tim's A Compendium of Curiosities.  The first challenge features the water stamping technique found on page 35 of the book.  I've been thinking about umbrellas and Tim's umbrella man stamp since the Creativity Boot Camp prompt, drizzle, went up last night.  I decided to see how the water stamping technique would work on plaster, and I'm thrilled with the results.  In fact, I think it works even better than my attempt to use this technique on paper, which you can see here.  I put two layers of gesso down on the plaster before the distress inks, and I think that helped a lot.  I can definitely see using this technique to create very cool backgrounds for larger plaster pieces.  Anyone going to join me in this Tim challenge?  In other blogland announcements, Shimelle posted a bit about her summer class.  I signed up already.  Have you?

It looks fantastic! A really cool technique.

I'd like to sign up but I'm still thinking because we will be away for half of it and I did want to do Picture Summer at BPS. Not sure yet.

Great results with this technique, I still haven't tried any new ones from his book. I thought this one was interesting though.

Another great piece; I'm not familiar with Tim's books, but this certainly was an effective technique. I haven't signed up yet, but probably will today.

Rinda, this is stunning! I would never have thought to do water stamping on plaster, but you're right-- the results are amazing! I'm so happy you're doing the Compendium Challenge, and happy to have found your blog, which I'll be following from now on! Thank you for teaching me a new twist on the technique. :-)

Hugs,

That is very effective, Rinda. It just looks "right" somehow. Very lovely!

I have signed up for Shimelle's course... not quite sure what I'm letting myself in for, but what was that "New Year's Resolution" from last September - To take new opportunities when they are offered. So, in the spirit of New Opportunities, I signed up!

Wow - you wrapped up a whole bunch of good stuff into this one piece ! The techique is so great - soft and watery on that plaster. Awesome. I love the quote for the Drizzle prompt for Boot Camp too. A great fit.

I just love the effect of the stamped piece here, Rinda. And I really want to own that umbrella man stamp! I saw it once while I was out shopping and passed it up, and I've regretted that ever since.

Yes...I signed up for Shimelle's class too. :o)

I love this piece Rinda but I'm not a stamper so I won't be doing a Tim Holtz inspired challenge I'm afraid. BUT ...... I will be seeing you in Shimelles class on July 5th!!! Hooray :)
