I picked up some magazines off a RAK table over the weekend, and both the April/May 2010 Stamper's Sampler and the Spring 2010 Take Ten featured cards where the main image had been stamped on text. I was so inspired that I made several cards. Two of my favorite are above. I think this design speaks to me because it's a way of incorporating ephemera into cards. I will definitely try this technique in my art journals, too. I also made this happy card, drawing inspiration from the May Inspiration Challenge at The Scrappy Tree:
What do you think of this design? Definitely let me know if you give it a go!
Mel tagged me with some questions, and some of you have asked about my reaction to the Get Out of Auto Mode class. Those are both on tap for tomorrow.
Today's card really jumps out at me - I think they are colours that I'm not used to seeing as regularly ... certainly a happy card!
ReplyDeleteLove these,Rinda...definately like the idea of stamping on text...or just using it as a background. Think it also works well punched and die cut.
ReplyDeleteOnce again, something I've never thought of doing. Really effective though, and I love the yellow!
ReplyDeletethe stamped images on text look fabulous - as scrappyjacky says I also love it for punched out shapes.
ReplyDeleteI Love all of the Rinda! very kewl technique!
ReplyDeleteWow! The cards look great!!! I can see myself making similar cards. Great technique. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteA Rak table of magazines? Ooh, how cool would that be!
ReplyDeleteThese are fabulous cards..the little ballet one especially caught me eye this morning.
Thanks for your congratulations :)
I looked through both those magazines the night we were hanging out at B&N trying to stay warm. I had a little notebook out and wrote "stamp on text" as something I wanted to do. I think it just moved up to the top of the list! I definitely love these cards. Can't pick a favorite even, although the man with the umbrella jumps out at me.
ReplyDeleteRinda, thank you so much for taking part in The Scrappy Tree Inspiration Challenge! Your take on the challenge is absolutely stunning! The yellow just pops! All your cards are gorgeous. Stamping on text is a wonderful idea and something I will have to do!

ReplyDeleteall the cards are great Rinda - and Lord knows I have a ton of text papers I could (and sometimes do) stamp on. I really like your take on the challenge - and I'm going to give it a try sometime this week!
ReplyDeletei just love this technique! how did you burn the edges of the text? your "challenge card" is beautiful. thanks for always pushing us to the next level. :-) you're awesome!
