Surprise, Arizona
One of the things on my "bucket list" (or things you want to do before you die) had been to go to baseball spring training with my son. Because we both love baseball. And because I love him. So much. I knew it would be a special time together.
When he was twelve years old, we finally flew together to Arizona to enjoy a long weekend at spring training. On this day, we arrived at the stadium early and asked if we could upgrade our tickets for anything closer, and they put us here. In the second row!
It was baseball heaven. And this photo of DS Henry taking it all in brings it all back. Which is really nice because he's being a bit of a snarky 15 year old these days. Thanks for the reminder of a sweeter time.
I'm loving all of the story telling which is coming from this project - I think I might have to do something random like this each month!
ReplyDeleteUrghhh .... not looking forward to 'narky' teenage years, your DS always looks so charming and lovely in photos - I'm sure you'll all make it through the teen years relatively unscathed! I know the pre-school years are making me gray by the day though :-)
this is a really cool pic maria. teens are always so hard to capture and i imagine get worse, especially with the male versions. i have tried taking decent pics of my friends 3 boys and it descended into hysteria but i got about 3 good pictures.

This is a beautiful story, told with such warmth. Does your 15 year old pat you on the head from a great height? Mine does :)
ReplyDeleteLovely story, Rinda. I enjoy going to special events with my DS too.
ReplyDeleteNot looking forward to his "snarky teens" either - he's 12 going on 13 now and starting to have those "look at me and I'll cry/growl/whine at you" days... I hope we get off fairly lightly and relatively unscarred by the experience!
I suppose teenage boys have a tricky relationship with their mothers. Keeping the balance right must be quite a challenge for both them and their parents... Ah, well, I'll find out soon enough!
Great story, Rinda. Happy to got to live your dream with your son!
ReplyDeleteA lovely story,Rinda...I love looking at my old photos and all the memories they bring back.
ReplyDelete'Snarky' is a new word on me.....but sounds just perfect for teenage moods.
Beautiful story. I have two snarky 16 year olds at home. And I can personally attest that girls do snarky equally as well as boys... if not better.
ReplyDeleteI'm so pleased this was your 8th pic of your 8th folder - this is such a lovely story xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a great memory! Do you have a scrapbook page(s) from this trip?
ReplyDeleteoh! this is a really sweet story from what would otherwise appear to be an "ordinary" baseball game!
ReplyDeletewhat a wonderful memory you share with your son. i live very near this stadium - you and your family are welcome to stay with us if you ever decide to come back for spring training. :-)
