Working outside my box

Using a prompt from Shimelle's Something from Almost Nothing class, I attached ribbon to a piece of chipboard to make the embellishment on this card.  It's sooooo outside my box.  I admire this type of embellishment on other's people work all the time, and I was pleased by how easy it was to make.  But it still doesn't feel like me.  The color scheme is one of my favorites, and the sentiment is definitely "me."  But still. . . I guess I don't get pulled outside my "box" very often.  It feels funny out here.
p.s. for altered house fans, be sure to check out this post at Deb's blog to see what she did with the house front package I sent her.

  1. That's exactly how I feel when I try something more 'arty'...I love other peoples work....often even like what I've made....but feel very out of my box...even ill at ease.
Love the colours you've used...and that flower is great.

  2. Funny how that is. I admire so many different styles and yet if I try something similar and end up turning it into something more "me" instead. I do love the way you've used the ribbon though.

  3. That's a really great little embellishment, Rinda! I like the choice of ribbon and spotted chipboard - and that it isn't a whole circle! The title made me laugh - it's such fun!
Whether you are "in" or "out of your box", I think you did a great job!

  4. Well, of course, I love the piece you made here and it's funny because this is rather more my style that yours. LOL. In fact, I used that same red ribbon to create a flower on one of the Shimelle pages I did this week. :o)

Thanks for the link to my post, Rinda. Have a great weekend!

  5. I'm not a fan of ribbon, but you did a nice job on the card.

  6. Love this card - and though it isn't your usual style, I can see 'you' in it x

  7. I love this card and when I saw it the other evening on the forum I had to get my daughter to come and look at it too! She liked it as well :)

  8. I love how you altered the chipboard with the ribbon... very cute card, even if it's out of your comfort zone. But the hokey pokey is dangerous... stay away from it! :)

  9. This is one of my favorite color combinations as well. I think you did a great job, and going "outside the box" is always a great experiment. Love the house Deb made with your goodies. So much fun to see what different people do with the same supplies.
