Tone on Tone Layouts

Here's a couple more layouts of some of my favorite photos that I prepared in Shimelle's class, Something from (almost) Nothing.  The prompt was about using cardstock scraps, and one of her sketches involved a tone-on-tone white layout.  I went with tone-on-tone black to fit the overall color scheme of my album.
I'm very happy with how they turned out.

  1. Who would have thought you could layer black on black and end up with such an effective layout?! These work just great. Don't think I have ever bought black cardstock and now I'm thinking I need to start, it is so dramatic!

  2. Wow, Rinda! I see lots of lovely layouts in Blogland - every day someone posts something fab that impresses me.

    But these are just Stunning!

I have never seen tone-on-tone done with black before. This makes an amazing impact. Your use of that very small amount of neutral-toned paper in each, and the different textures of the black cardstock pieces... well, what a combination!

They both suit your chosen photos so well and I love your decision to just put the title in a small tag, rather than go with something big, that would interfere with the balance of the layout.

An amazing pair of pages, for two very lovely photos. I'm stunned...

Incidentally, I really love the trellis-like patterned cardstock you used for the gorilla layout. Fabby!
