More Patterned Paper Scraps

In Shimelle's Something from (Almost) Nothing class, the second prompt on patterned paper suggested punching out shapes of patterned paper to use on a layout.  I knew I had this Christmas tree farm layout to put together and had been having trouble figuring out what to do.  So, before bed the other night, I grabbed a few scraps of xmas patterned paper and punched circles and xmas trees.  The next morning I put this layout together in less than half an hour and am shocked by how much I love it. It's simple but somehow still works for me! After having perused all the lovely layouts in the class forum and participant's blogs, it occurred to me that this prompt was almost as much about dusting off punches as it was about using patterned paper! I'm not that punch of a punch girl.   I have some basic geometrics: circles, squares, a tag, and a scallop. Then just a few favorites in my stash - a leaf; a butterfly; an xmas tree; maybe a few more.  What about you? Do you have punches?  Do you use them much?

  2. I have a few geometric shapes and a few flowers....not much else....I usually use them for cardmaking.....so I liked that this prompt got me using them for scrapbooking as well.
I love the effect the circles have on your LO.....and some lovely photos on it.

  3. I have 6 or 7 small punches - heart, flowers etc but only one big one which is a square that I use for grids. The punch I use most is corner rounder. I covet some big circle punches and a big tag shape.

  6. I love the punches I have in my collection...and I have a "few." They are so easy to reach for and pop out shapes to coordinate with any theme.

Your layout is awesome, Rinda! I love the border strips layered with the circle punch. I am inspired!!!

  7. I hadn't realised how much I needed new punches until I saw everyone else's pages! A butterfly punch is high on my list of 'must have's' now!
This is a great layout. Christmas Tree punches? Didn't even know they existed ...

  8. I do have some punches (left over from before I went digital.) I absolutely love the daisy-type punch for flowers on cards. I usually punch out several and layer them so the petals are in between the empty spaces. I hold them together by using a brad in the center.

  9. Love the layout. I have quite a good-sized collection of punches purchased over many years (15+) of cardmaking, and I still use most of them. I've gotten rid of a lot of my stash, but every time I go to put some punches in a box to give away I have second thoughts.

  10. Love your layout and the patterned circles. I don't have many shape punches other than a scalloped circle, heart and butterfly, but I do have quite a few border punches. I love using them to add a little something extra to edges.

  15. Great LO, Rinda! I have quite a few punches.. circles of various sizes, three border punches, a corner rounder, a tiny butterfly and several little shapes I hardly use. Shimelle's prompt has got me using my circle punches a lot this week! They really are a good way of using small scraps.
