My Favorite Intern

Item #17: Two or more people in uniform
This summer, my son Henry is working as an intern with a minor league professional baseball team called The Vallejo Admirals. He's working in marketing, media and on-field operations. He's learned a lot in just his first week of work of what goes in to running a baseball team.
So, this last weekend, I went to go watch one of his games. He spent most of the game selling tickets and talking to fans.
Meanwhile, on the field, I captured some of the action.

As a bonus, I captured an item for the summertime photography scavenger hunt (#17).
I'd say the boy hit a home run with his summer internship this year.
I'm looking forward to going to a few more games this summer.

  1. My daughter Rachel is interning with the Iron Pigs at Coca Cola Park in Allentown this summer. She, along with 30 or so others, rotate through all of the different "jobs" within the stadium during a game. So far she has handed out coupons, worked in the children's area, collected tickets, worked will call, sold tennis balls (they are used for something after the game???). She hasn't had to do concessions (food service) yet. The highlight was the day a regular employee was out sick and they sent Rachel to the booth to work the sound effects for the game. So she got to play the sounds when our team made a hit or scored, other sound effects, and choose the music to play in the downtime. She had literally 2 minutes to learn the system. She said it was stressful because you really have to pay complete attention to the game and she was unfamiliar with the equipment, but she did great!

  2. What great pictures:the colours are singing..so much brighter than the green and black of our cricket scorer here. It sounds like a fantastic opportunity for him. Enjoy the summer, Henry!
