ZIZO #13: Eggs!
Clara's chickens have started laying! It's very exciting. The Buff Orpingtons lay brown eggs; the Americaunus lay blue-green eggs, and Laverne (the white leg horn) will lay white eggs. I had fun photographing these eggs for this week's version of zoom in < zoom out, a photography meme sponsored by Helena. See more here.
Now, that is exciting. The Americaunus eggs are such a pretty colour.
ReplyDeletehow exciting and they look beautiful
ReplyDeleteA very beautiful ZIZO. I buy Blue shelled eggs, I love their almost red yolks. They come from the Cotswold Legbar hens. http://www.clarencecourt.co.uk/our-range/cotswolds-legbar/
ReplyDeleteNothing better than freshly laid eggs :)
ReplyDeleteLove the blue egg....it almost looks too pretty to eat!!
ReplyDeleteSo the mystery of "when" has been solved!
ReplyDeleteHow pretty!
ReplyDeleteThat blue egg is amazing. I honestly had no idea hens could lay eggs that colour!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the eggs! Our americauans hide their eggs from us. But ours escape from their fenced off area all the time so they have the whole 3 acres to be hiding them in.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely to have such fresh eggs. Are the yolks the same shade of yellow in all the different coloured shells?
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful eggs! Occasionally I get some colors other than brown when I buy my organic eggs from the Farmer's Market, but all the ones from the grocery store are brown.
ReplyDeleteHow very exciting! Colour-coded eggs are brilliant - I wonder if they will taste different too?
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh I am SO excited for you guys, Rinda! There is nothing better than fresh eggs, and I think you will have lots of fun photographing them. I'm looking forward to hearing about the progress. How many hens does Clara have now?
ReplyDeletewow- those are the prettiest eggs I have ever seen. When I first saw the photo I thought they were eggs dyed for Easter.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't want to break those gorgeous eggs.
ReplyDeleteOh, how beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAren't these lovely? So delighted to hear production is on the way!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful colours, love the marbling on your clever little Buff Orpington. Are you saving the shells for mosaic?
ReplyDeleteI'm familiar with white and brown eggs. But blue-green eggs? How pretty!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the zoom in! I'm excited that the girls have started laying.
