Once a month, in response to Kat Sloma's Photo Heart Connection, I go through my photographs and choose the one which has the "strongest connection to my heart and to my soul". After reviewing them all, I settled on this candid portrait of Clara playing with her dog, Aria. There is such tenderness between them in this photograph; other times, their connection is rowdy and wild. Many people questioned our sanity when, in the midst of so much turmoil last fall, we decided to get another dog. Paul shrugged his shoulders and said, "I guess there was still one ring in our circus that was not yet full." But, truly, Aria has been a blessing for Clara. She provides an anchor, a confidante and a soothing presence to our little girl. Just when she needs it most. This photograph validates our decision and touches my heart.
I considered a couple of other photographs this month:
These beautiful oak trees, which I blogged about here.
And this photograph of my loyal dog, Gypsy, discussed in the same post.
Interestingly, all three of these photographs were taken with my iphone. Although I took lots of soccer pictures with my DSLR, none of them were real contenders for my photo heart connection this month. The iphone is such an amazing camera. This month, I'll be learning a lot more about it as I'm taking Cheryl Johnson's Iphonography class. All of CJ's classes are great, and this one is very reasonably priced (just 10 pounds). I love all 3 photos! Nothing like a dog to touch your heart though, is there. Our dog brings such joy every single day! Glad Clara and Aria have such a close bond:)
ReplyDeletenice shot!
ReplyDeleteA perfect pick, and I love Paul's comment!
ReplyDeleteI like the moment you selected. The love is running both ways, or in full circle between them. I have lived most my life with pets. The love they offer me is a comfort and brings joy.

ReplyDeleteGreat shots today and I can see the emotional pull for each one.
What a wonderful capture of a special moment between a girl and her dog. My daughter has always said that her dog Riley is her best friend, he listens and loves unconditionally.

ReplyDeleteJust loving the love and sheer joy in this!
ReplyDeleteHope your birthday was good Rinda. Lovely snapshot of Clara and Aria, I cherished the relationship between me and my dog, glad you captured that feeling in a photo :)
ReplyDeleteI can't agree with you more about how dogs as pets can be an anchor for us. I remember being kind of lost in the wide world until I decided to get a dog when I was 24 (or so). That dog was always there for me, gave me a reason to get up in the morning, and go for a walk every day. I am forever grateful to my dogs! Clara and Aria look to be quite a team!
ReplyDeleteA dog can be such a wonderful companion and a true confidante. It is said that having such a four-legged friend can be healing too. You captured a nice photo of your daughter Clara with her dog Aria.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful connection, its not always easy to capture such beautiful moments.
ReplyDeleteI remember how important my dog was to me as a girl, and even the ones I've had as an adult. You've captured a special moment perfect for Photo-Heart Connection.

I hope you had a great birthday Rinda, sorry I'm late. I remember those 2 other pictures but this new one is definitely special! Funny how they were all taken with the iPhone.
