PPF: Final Cabinet of Curiosities

Last month's theme at the Sketchbook Challenge was "Cabinet of Curiosities." I loved the theme and made several Cabinets (check them out here and here).  This one was laid out on my work desk all month, and I finally got around to finishing it. The background is painted with Golden acrylics, with some old text collaged in below my curiosities. the two items in the middle are copies of swap artwork I made. I took the photographs of the skull on the hand and the mixed face in a natural history museum. The antlered woman is from a fashion magazine (check out the spider on her neck) and the other curiosities are from purchased collage sheets. I'm posting this to Paint Party Friday. You can check out the other entries at this link.  Which is your favorite curiosity?

  1. Your collage turned out great! Very creative and interesting, as well as beautiful. I don't like spiders at all, but I like the skulls and the half face peeking out at the top. It's all good. I couldn't get very inspired with this theme for some reason.

  3. The odd and unexplicable always has a sort of macabre but curious interest that draws us in. I love your cabinets, you have captured the theme perfectly, I think my favorite curiousity has to be the weird little creature with the butterfly wings. beautiful work

  9. what is it about bones that make such an interesting composition? the lines, the shading, the chill you get when seeing them?!? such a fun prompt.
