Today I want to share with you some thoughts on making the final page in a scrapbook album. Since I scrap my family pictures chronologically, my final page always follows my Christmas pages. I used to use an enlargement of a family portrait or an assortment of family photos for my final page, but last year, I embraced the joy of the holiday by featuring some of my favorite seasonal photos.
Even if you don't make chronological albums, I still think the final page requires some thought. In my travel albums, for instance, I take a different approach (some favorite memories, a favorite enlargement, our itinerary documents, etc.) I'd love to hear what you do for you "final page."

ReplyDeleteWhat a good idea, to use a special piece of paper for your end page :) My layouts aren't well enough organised for me to have thought about start or end pages but I shall bear this in mind whenever I do get organised!! These are both lovely pages, thanks for sharing x

ReplyDeleteCurrently I've only done a chronological annuals as it were, which I tend to end with "To be continued in (insert year)" on a very pretty sheet of paper that I dont want to cover up.
My last page in my Route 66 album was a photo of the tide washing over "The End" written in the sand.

ReplyDeleteInspiring! You have persuaded me that I need to start thinking about final pages. What usually happens here is I leave a great big stack of layouts stacked up until it threatens to topple and then I buy several albums at once and just bung em in. I can see how a more considered approach would repay a little extra thought now :)

Love your pages!! I don't really have a last page...my albums just keep going to the next one!!! My albums are generally in date order!!!
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of a special ending page, trouble is my albums are all on going. I have about three each of my three grandsons, each time the album becomes too full to safely put on the shelf I start a new one. the pages aren't necessarily in chronicle order either lol

ReplyDeleteI've never thought about a final page before, but I really haven't completed any great big scrapbooks before. I mostly do mini's, but now I have Project Life going so maybe I should be thinking about the grand finale!
Great idea Rinda. I've yet to complete an album and I must admit mind are mostly random pages.
ReplyDeleteI have one album that is photos of my two granddaughters. I call it double trouble and every photo is where they have a similar pose or action, mostly unplanned.
I have to go look to see how I finished my albums. I don't scrap chronologically but I do make travel albums, but I'm not sure that I do anything fancy at the end. Love your pages!

ReplyDeleteMy general albums are just a higgledy piggledy mix in the order they were scrapped and/or put away. I will sort them one day *sigh*
The only ones that have any sensible start or finish are the holiday albums ... they generally have a first page with either lots of tiny photos or perhaps a postcard by way of introduction, and at the end a page with a photo from the return journey.
This is particulary true of albums like travel themes or JYC!

ReplyDeleteYour final page idea with special paper is a lovely one-I never do "final" pages in my albums because I feel our stories are still continuing-but yours is beautiful!

ReplyDeleteI used to make albums that started and ended very deliberately. Dropped that habit I thought when I moved to ring bound albums which aren't chronological. Am rethinking now I'm about to move into new albums - so each family member will have a volume one and two...

Only once did I give a final page a thought and you are reminding me to put a extra page in my Days of December book for this purpose :). I love those snowflakes against the blue - the dimensional effect is lovely.

ReplyDeleteI haven't scrapbooked for such a long time, it's unbelievable. I also do my albums chronological, it just makes sense to me, plus extra travel albums - although many of those were done by Shutterfly in the recent years because I was so much behind. I'm still working on a scrapbook of our across-the-States trip, which happened in 2007!!!
ReplyDeleteYour pages are beautiful Rinda, What a great way to actually use a 'special' piece of paper instead of just stroking it which is what I do! I always make an end page in a book, usually titled Reflection. It is interesting to read from one book to the next if I actually take any notice of my own ideas for the next project...
ReplyDeleteGreat pages! I must admit I've never paid any special attention to last pages except for making sure there is some element there that sums everything up, perhaps a photo of the whole family if it's a family album, or a calm landscape with a calm layout at the end of a travel journal.

ReplyDeleteI just did the final page for a chronological album recently & will have it up on my blog in a few days. Our anniversary is 2 days after Christmas, so my final page will be what we did during our annivesary week (Christmas - New Year's).
