Today I want to share with you some thoughts on making the final page in a scrapbook album. Since I scrap my family pictures chronologically, my final page always follows my Christmas pages. I used to use an enlargement of a family portrait or an assortment of family photos for my final page, but last year, I embraced the joy of the holiday by featuring some of my favorite seasonal photos.I usually use a "special" piece of patterned paper for my final pages. It's an opportunity to really show it off. For the top page, I used Club Scrap ornaments paper and added red jewel bling. The paper had a perfect pattern already on it. For the second page, I started with a fairly basic wintery blue piece of paper and added almost an entire pack of dimensional snowflake stickers to create the pattern I wanted because, try as I might, I could not find a patterned paper which "fit" these photographs.
Even if you don't make chronological albums, I still think the final page requires some thought. In my travel albums, for instance, I take a different approach (some favorite memories, a favorite enlargement, our itinerary documents, etc.) I'd love to hear what you do for you "final page."

beautiful pages Rinda! I love the nativity scene in the angel's hands!
ReplyDeletewonderful layouts. I can't say i've ever thought about a final page in an album..they continue over to the next one!
ReplyDeleteWhat a good idea, to use a special piece of paper for your end page :) My layouts aren't well enough organised for me to have thought about start or end pages but I shall bear this in mind whenever I do get organised!! These are both lovely pages, thanks for sharing x
ReplyDeletea wave from me.
ReplyDeleteLovely pages :)
ReplyDeleteLovely pages.
ReplyDeleteCurrently I've only done a chronological annuals as it were, which I tend to end with "To be continued in (insert year)" on a very pretty sheet of paper that I dont want to cover up.
My last page in my Route 66 album was a photo of the tide washing over "The End" written in the sand.
ReplyDeleteI've never thought about a final page before, will have to do it now!
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely LOs Maria and it will be gr8 to see this years new ones too,
ReplyDeleteJo xxx
beautiful pages to end the year what a great memory xxx
ReplyDeleteInspiring! You have persuaded me that I need to start thinking about final pages. What usually happens here is I leave a great big stack of layouts stacked up until it threatens to topple and then I buy several albums at once and just bung em in. I can see how a more considered approach would repay a little extra thought now :)
ReplyDeleteI think that's a wonderful way to finish an album,Rinda. This is the first year I've made a chronological album and you've inspired me to think carefully about the final page.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what it's like to finish an album! Except, of course, for the 2012 Scavenger Hunt album.
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid I, like others above, rarely 'finish' an album! I really really need to sort my albums out, and buy some more!
ReplyDeleteYour pages look gorgeous, I especially like the one with all the dimensional snowflakes, they do make the page really special!
Thanks so much for joining in with the hop! x
Love your pages!! I don't really have a last page...my albums just keep going to the next one!!! My albums are generally in date order!!!
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of a special ending page, trouble is my albums are all on going. I have about three each of my three grandsons, each time the album becomes too full to safely put on the shelf I start a new one. the pages aren't necessarily in chronicle order either lol
ReplyDeleteHey Rinda! I haven't been by your blog for so long (but I haven't been by many blogs at all for ages). Nice to be back!
ReplyDeleteGreat Seasonal pages - I love the portraits of Henry and Clara, also of you - the background paper is just right to show off those pictures.
And the snowflake stickers are lovely. I bet you were pleased with the result!
Great layouts, Rinda ~ I recognize a couple of those photos from CJ's class last year. :o) Love them!
ReplyDeleteI've never thought about a final page before, but I really haven't completed any great big scrapbooks before. I mostly do mini's, but now I have Project Life going so maybe I should be thinking about the grand finale!
Great idea Rinda. I've yet to complete an album and I must admit mind are mostly random pages.
ReplyDeleteI have one album that is photos of my two granddaughters. I call it double trouble and every photo is where they have a similar pose or action, mostly unplanned.
I have to go look to see how I finished my albums. I don't scrap chronologically but I do make travel albums, but I'm not sure that I do anything fancy at the end. Love your pages!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely idea, to have a special page at the end of each album!
ReplyDeleteI have many albums on the go and most of them continue over to the next album eg vacations. I really ought to think a bit more about final pages for albums
ReplyDeleteInteresting ideas Rinda (and lovely pages too).
ReplyDeleteMy general albums are just a higgledy piggledy mix in the order they were scrapped and/or put away. I will sort them one day *sigh*
The only ones that have any sensible start or finish are the holiday albums ... they generally have a first page with either lots of tiny photos or perhaps a postcard by way of introduction, and at the end a page with a photo from the return journey.
This is particulary true of albums like travel themes or JYC!
ReplyDeleteLove the angel pic and the blue background of the snowflakes. Very pretty.
ReplyDeletefood for thought. I've never really done a 'final' page. i scrap yearly albums too but the last page is just the last onbe i can squezze in.
ReplyDeleteLovely pages and really interesting to read about how you work too - my pages are all in piles in no particular order I'm afraid! :o)
ReplyDeleteBeing a fairly random scrapper, it's not something I've ever considered. Love how you made a background paper to suit your photos.
ReplyDeleteYour final page idea with special paper is a lovely one-I never do "final" pages in my albums because I feel our stories are still continuing-but yours is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love this and I often make albums that are cxomplete with a start and an end page.
ReplyDeleteI used to make albums that started and ended very deliberately. Dropped that habit I thought when I moved to ring bound albums which aren't chronological. Am rethinking now I'm about to move into new albums - so each family member will have a volume one and two...
ReplyDeleteDo like seeing CS paper actually used - the addition of the jewels is such a nice touch.
Wonderful pages Rinda. I never seem to finish an album as I just pick and choose what takes my fancy but one day I will!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've done a 'final' page to an album, either! Got me thinking, though!
ReplyDeleteNow I feel a little ashamed to admit that my albums are just higgledy piggledy - no sense of order or theme whatsoever!! So ... this is a rather different approach ... mmm ... maybe one day? ... after I've scrapped a few more pages!! xx
ReplyDeleteMy albums are mostly higgledy piggledy too. You are much more organised than me. I love that angel
ReplyDeleteI haven' t thought about final pages before...maybe I should...as always something to think about Rinda! hope Paul got on OK this week
ReplyDeleteAlison xx
Only once did I give a final page a thought and you are reminding me to put a extra page in my Days of December book for this purpose :). I love those snowflakes against the blue - the dimensional effect is lovely.
ReplyDeletelovely simple pages. Never thought about a last page before, I keep going until it is full, but I guess you are doing one a year
ReplyDeleteLovely pages :-)
ReplyDeleteI haven't scrapbooked for such a long time, it's unbelievable. I also do my albums chronological, it just makes sense to me, plus extra travel albums - although many of those were done by Shutterfly in the recent years because I was so much behind. I'm still working on a scrapbook of our across-the-States trip, which happened in 2007!!!
ReplyDeleteYour pages are beautiful Rinda, What a great way to actually use a 'special' piece of paper instead of just stroking it which is what I do! I always make an end page in a book, usually titled Reflection. It is interesting to read from one book to the next if I actually take any notice of my own ideas for the next project...
ReplyDeleteGreat pages! I must admit I've never paid any special attention to last pages except for making sure there is some element there that sums everything up, perhaps a photo of the whole family if it's a family album, or a calm landscape with a calm layout at the end of a travel journal.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pages thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI just did the final page for a chronological album recently & will have it up on my blog in a few days. Our anniversary is 2 days after Christmas, so my final page will be what we did during our annivesary week (Christmas - New Year's).
ReplyDeleteLove the snow flakes on your page
