Monthly Make: Halloween Bookmarks

I love creating art in October for two holidays - Halloween and Dias de los Muertos. I don't think I made anything last year at all! So I resolved to change that for this year and bought some new paper to inspire me (it's from Echo Park's Chillingsworth Manor collection). I signed up for a Halloween themed book mark swap and made a couple of different designs.  The two pictures on the left show the front of the bookmark, and the image on the right is the back.  Here's the second set I made:
Again, the fronts are on the left and the back is on the right. I think my favorite of all is the "Nevermore" one, but I favor a fairly flat bookmark.  Although these were fairly simple to make, they still seemed to take all morning. I just don't think I'm a very fast paper crafter!  Regardless, it was a fun morning, and I'm calling these my "monthly make" for October.  Got a favorite in the bunch?  And, I was wondering, are you a fast crafter? Or a slow poke like me?

  2. Oh I do like those! I am not very fond of Halloween - it never used to be a big celebration over here, not really. There would be a bit of a party with some apple bobbing or apples on strings but nothing like the costumes and trick or treat that has swept in from America in the last twenty years - mutter, mutter grumble

OH, OH My book arrived today! I blogged about it thank you so much it is wonderful.

  3. How funny - I was just looking at my scraps and thinking I need to make some more bookmarks! I love giving these as RAKs figuring they are useful and everyone needs a bookmark. I too prefer a flat and the last couple of times have done hybrid with lots of digi layers and then some decorating/scraps.

I'm fairly fast as a scrapper/crafter but struggle to find the time. So it takes me ages in one way but not the other.

  4. We're not big on Hallowe'en, but I love bookmarks - I do like your 'Nevermore' :) Me, I'm slow and steady.... Or maybe just indecisive?!

  5. These are fun & I like the idea of a bookmark swap. I agree, Nevermore is my favourite too.
My family love dressing up and decorating for Halloween. They are probably counting the days!

  7. I love your bookmarks - and I love Halloween as well. It's such a fun holiday.
I also read your last post - I am so glad that Paul is doing okay although that is a lot of chemo for him. It's wonderful that he has the energy to continue his consulting business. I hope that all this will have a very happy ending for you.
My daughter is a teenager as well (14) - so far, so good. Beside some teenage moodiness and attitude she is doing fine and we actually still talk to each other.
Oh, and your question - sometimes I am a fast crafter, when the ideas chase each other and I can't do my projects fast enough. Other times I'm painfully slow...

  8. These look great Rinda. I love all the Halloween stuff around now. I really enjoyed making my tags/bookmarks last week. I'm a very slow crafter, but it seems I'm in good company here.

  9. Nevermore is my favorite, too. In general, I'm a slow paper crafter, but it does depend on the day and the project. Recently, it's seemed particularly slow.

  11. We don't do much about halloween...but I do love the bookmarks.
I tend to be a pretty slow papercrafter....I can't believe how long it takes me to make something sometimes!

  12. Fun holiday decor made into practical bookmarks! Obviously lots of thought goes into these creations.
I've been told I work (draw, paint, sew, create art quilts) quickly.it's just how I am I guess.

  13. i love all these spooky bookmarks but the raven has to be my favorite. how fun to tuck one of these into a book this month and use it to mark your spot - especially if it was a scary story! unfortunately, i am extremely slow.

  14. It really depends on what I am doing. I scrap very quickly, sew so slowly it is embarrassing and other paper crafts are probably just as slow!

  15. I'm very slow! the page sitting on my desk right now has been there for four dyas now and it's not that I've been ignoring it, I have actually done a bit every day ..

  16. I also like Nevermore. Love the dancers, it reminds me of my family get togethers. (some of my family look spooky too) LOL I am a slow crafter. I'm usually the last person in the group to finish my project. My friends tell me I'm meticulous.
