I'm arriving at Paint Party Friday a little late - you can see the other participants at this link. But I'm really happy to have done this page because it finishes up my Gratitude Journal, which I started way back in June, 2010! The journal is very rustic - the pages are made out of plaster, and this page has also been collaged with an assortment of patterned papers. The Journal is called "Pieces of Me," and each page describes something for which I am grateful. Here's a sampling of some of the other pages:
I am so glad to have this journal finally completed! And it makes me interested in pulling out some more plaster to work with (although it's easiest to work with that medium when the weather is hot and dry, so I may have to wait). It reminds me of a friend in Southern California who only knits in the winter because her hands get too hat in the summer. Are there certain media that are "season-dependent" for you?
Thanks for stopping by!
Really like the lighthouse painting.
ReplyDeleteLess scrapping occurs in the summer, a bit like some recipes I suppose .. there are summer and winter favourites!
ReplyDeleteI'm grateful for a house near the sea as well.
ReplyDeleteI tend to do a lot more crafting in general in the winter....in spring and summer gardening and other outdoor pursuits take over.
Knitting, in particular, always seems like a winter activity to me....something you do snuggled on the sofa in front of a fire!!!
What a lovely collection of pages. My faces are the New Day and Henry pages.
ReplyDeletesuch a soothing medium for heart-felt thoughts. your journal will be a treasure to go through on those inevitable days when you feel a little down.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely idea - gratitude journal! Reminds me of the song we used to sing as kids "Count your blessings". Your pages are very pretty.
ReplyDeleteYour journal looks gorgeous. What a wonderful thing to have lying around to pick up whenever you might be feeling a little less than terrific.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on finishing it! A great sense of accomplishment and lovely pages.
ReplyDeletebeautiful work, rinda! i love how by focusing on things that you are grateful for, you have given us a glimpse of you and your life.

Rinda, this has turned into such a beautiful and special gratitude journal. I am not quite sure I can really imagine the pages with plaster, but what I see here is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteThis is an amazing piece of art - I love everything about it, but especially i think that final page with the houses.
ReplyDeleteI do most crafts year round, but I do struggle with finding light to photograph my stuff in at this time of year
Your journal looks great - I'm one of those Southern CA people but so far the weather hasn't stopped me from doing anything. I would think knitting in the summer would be too hot though!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely Gratitude Journal, and such a great idea! Each and every page is beautiful and inspiring :) Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteWow! Busy lady ~ very creative and charming ~namaste, carol (Share the Creative Journey) Happy PPF ^_^
ReplyDeleteHey Rinda, thanks for your comment on PPF. That journal is awesome! And yes, knitting in summer isn't fun and if I have to, I use cotton yarn. Wool is too hot!
ReplyDeleteWell done on finishing it - it is brilliant. As for me, if/when I knit I tend to only do it in the winter as my hands get too sticky when it is hot! Scrapping I can do all year long.
ReplyDeleteGreat pages Rinda. I think the Gratitude Journal is such a great idea. I'm almost tempted to start doing this in my latest journal. Nice job. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteAll your pages are superb!
ReplyDeleteHappy PPF!

Very nice pages - interesting concept - first time I have heard of plaster pages. It is great to take time to be grateful. Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,

What an inspirational thing to do, a gratitude journal, I love yours, it's great to see & appreciate the good things in life, thanks for sharing this I'm pleased you got it finished :) Hey I hope to see you at 29 faces (or maybe less LOL)
ReplyDeleteAwesome images! And great journal idea too!
ReplyDeleteFor me, I never do any clay stuff in winter. It's hard, complicated and takes forever to dry (of course I will complain in the summer hat it dries too fast, right?) hehehe
Beautiful pages!
