My Kind of Brush - A Lesson about Beauty (and a give-away)

I'm a minimalist when it comes to beauty products. I consider myself a master of the "five minute face." I use a bit of powder, some blush, a brush of eye shadow, a light coat of mascara and lipstick.   All my products are from T.LeClerc and are in very subtle colors.  Today, I realized that I'm also a minimalist when it comes to my hair. I can sum up what I learned in one sentence: "A handful of DevaCurl Gel scrunched into my hair is all I need !" I do much better with paintbrushes than hair brushes!
My daughter Clara, on the other hand, spends hours on her hair every morning. She would love to have one of these:
That's an Instyler, which can curl or straighten your hair.  If you would like an instyler, check out my friend Sonja's blog at this link.  She's giving away two instylers, and there's lots of ways to enter her give-away.
What kind of beauty are you? A minimalist? Or one who's more involved?

  1. Minimal.
    Cetaphil cleanser and moisturiser.
Lipgloss and occasionally mascara with a teeny-tiny smear of a muted lancome eye shadow in a smoky brown colour. Tinted moisturiser if I am feeling posh!

  2. I to am a minimal lady. Most days - mascara and lipgloss, on special occasions I might throw on a bit of foundation and some blusher.

I am blessed with curly hair so a quick brush usually does the trick.

  3. Love your post.:) I'm minimal. One homemade moisturiser (allergies) for all skin, mascara, lipgloss. End of. Don't you just love simple?

  4. Definately minimal....frequently nothing except moisturiser and a bit of blusher.
My 2 DDs are opposites of each other....one takes minutes, the other hours.

  5. Definitely minimalist on a day to day basis. I'm with Amy, Cetaphil is my best friend! Now that I'm not working I don't wear makeup at all unless I'm going out for an evening and then it's eyeliner/mascara and call it good. I generally have my hair up in a ponytail or a french braid. I like minimal!

  6. On the other hand ... I am high maintenance when it comes to eye brow waxing ... if it goes too long I do start to hyperventilate .. we all have our achillies don't we?

  8. Definitely a minimalist. Usually done in less than five! Love tinted moisturizer which helps with drier skin and provides light coverage.

  9. I like make-up, but I am hopeless with hair! I can't style my own hair properly at all. When I was little I wanted really curly hair so at least it would have a style of its own.

Straightened hair is very fashionable with teenage girls here at the minute too. It does mean getting up early though..

  10. totally minimalist! most days I wash and comb my hair and let it air dry - no products or styling at all. And no makeup unless I'm going into the office or out on a date. When I do wear makeup it's mascara, eye shadow, blush, and some lip balm. Maybe a little concealer if I'm looking too much like a raccoon. I've never worn any kind of foundation - I'm an au naturel kind of girl!

  11. I'm totally into the easiest hair care possible - wash it, comb it, let it dry! I do curl my bangs most days, but otherwise it's just straight or in a ponytail.

  12. I'm a bit of a minimalist when going to work but I do like to take a shile when I'm going anywhere special (not that that happens very often now !:-( )

  13. I'm such a girly girl, I'm definitely more of a do it all every day kinda gal. My hair, I spend at least half hour a day on. My make up, at least twenty minutes. My nails at least an hour a week. But I love to do these things...specially the make up. Foundation, powder, blush, shadow, mascara, etc...I have a morning and an evening ritual. But, what now takes me about an hour to get ready every morning, it used to take me at least two... I guess it's because of all the practice I've had, haha.

  14. Funny I am reading this at this time. I am a minimalist with moisturizer, eyeliner and lipstick. Right now I have alot of makeup on as Hubby and I are going out tonight. Every time I pass a mirror, I wipe off make-up. If hubby isn't ready soon, I might just wash my face before we leave.

  16. it depends... if I'm going to the grocery store... it's minimalist with sometimes no makeup at all...otherwise if I'm going out, it's the full gamut :)

  17. I'm a total minimalist. Many days I don't go beyond moisturizing my face. On special occasions I use some powder & mascara.

I stick with just argan oil on my hair as well.

But I do love scented body soap & lotions. I have many many bottles of those
