2011 Resolutions - March page

Yesterday I shared my one little word and intentions art journal pages for March and provided a place for you to link up to your projects (here). I have a third journal which focuses on some specific resolutions.  I had originally wanted to check off a resolution that had to do with getting some of my writing projects done at work, but I've gotten stalled on those.  On the other hand, I realized that I do feel ready to check off my resolution to "learn to better utilize my ipad."  So, I create this page, which reads "I came, I saw, I conquered. Ipad."  It feels good to conquer some technology.  And I'm hoping to get after those work projects next month.  In the meantime, I did make this art journal page about struggling to gt my work done:
The journaling reads "I'm trying to work on my articles, but it is hard to stay focused. I wonder what will help."  Do you have any good ideas for getting focused, especially on writing projects?  Have you conquered any technology lately?

  1. More wonderful pages

Back int eh day when I was still an academic I shared those frustrations of not getting writing done, especially when I was way busy on lots of other things.

Here are some things that worked for me
    - something small everyday - I brainstormed a list of small, useful tasks to suit a range of energy and brain levels and did one of them everyday eg write a paragraph about *; type up 5 references into the bibliography, find * reference/article/ example, edit *. I often foudn that I did more than the small task but starting on the small task was an easy start and because I did a bit everyday I did not lose conenction with the writing

The other thing I sometimes did - totally opposite of above was to book into a holiday home for a long weekend and go there with my laptop and reference material and lovely picnic/ no cook food and just work and walk.

hope it start flowing for you soon

  4. Great pages. I like your work. An Ipad? I don't have one, I probably wouldn't know how to use it.:) Enjoy, have a great weekend.

  5. I share in that wonderful feeling you get when you finally conquer some bit of technology! In fact, that very thing was included in my post for the One Little Word blog hop!

  6. Lovely pages. I am now feeling much more confident about using my DSLR having done the photography course and I am going to sign up for the next one which starts in June.

  7. The colors in your journals always fascinate me. Don't get me started on technology. I'm glad that I "understand" my cameras, can handle the basics of the computer and know my way around Photoshop. The essentials, so to speak.

  9. Mastering technology is an ongoing battle with me, I'm so non-technological! I got TTO to put updates on my phone yesterday and even the small changes brought by that has me struggling. So, I'm impressed with your ipad odyssey (and your page)

  10. My iPad is less than a week old, so I'd like to know what you've done to master it. I'd like to be fairly comfortable with it by the end of the month.

For staying focused on tasks that don't always rise to the top of the "I WANT to do list," I always found making a list of smaller pieces of the project helped me to focus. I would promise myself to do "x" number of small things on the list, but almost always once I got started I kept going and got much more accomplished than I expected.
