Disoriented (art journal page)

Today I feel like my muse finally returned, and all it took was a call last night from Dell telling me that they would be sending me a replacement hard drive. It's not here yet; I'm still working on my son's computer.  But something relaxed inside me when I realized that I would soon have a dedicated and reliable computer back.  So I made a bunch of art journal pages. And figured out a way to post them.  This one is called "Disoriented," and the journaling reads: "I can't believe how disoriented I have been without a reliable computer.  I has affected everything - everything!"  I started with a watercolored stenciled background, embossed some fish in black and then added rub-ons (yes, rub-ons).  I owe the rub-on idea to all those folks in blogland who are taking a class called "She Art" and are posting really awesome canvases with rub-ons in the background.   I admit to having gone through a rub-on phase, so I pulled out the packs that I had.  Added a cut-out stamped image, some artists tape and gesso'd top texture.  It was a lot of fun to make, and I really like how it turned out. Thanks for sticking with me through my disorientation.  And let me know if you went through a rub-on phase and the last time you pulled them out and used them!

    Funnily enough,Rinda,apart from alphabets, I've never used rub ons....which now I'm taking the 'She Art' class,is a big disadvantage!!!!! And as I'm loving it so much, I may just have to buy some!!! I never realised just how effective they can look....as they do on your piece.
    It's actually a bit scary how much we depend on computers,isn't it?????

    I still use rub-ons sometimes - in part I find the process of applying them very soothing and magical

    My day is just not the same without your regular posts Rinda! I hope that hard drive arrives soon too :-)

    Yippee, new hard drive on the way! I know what you mean about Disorientated. The collapse of my studio shelves messed up a whole week and has left me rather behind with everything too. I now have a workable room, but still nowhere for my computer to sit, so I'm working on a fold-up table in the sitting room. It was good though, to be able to add a post yesterday, showing the much improved state of my studio. I feel better - so I know what you mean about getting your inspiration back!
    Love the art journal page, so many textures, colours, ideas... I have been thinking about trying my own art journalling, and a lot of this is down to inspiration from my blog friends - most especially Rinda!
    I do use rub-on designs sometimes. I made a sweet little New Baby book for my niece a couple of years ago and put lots of gorgeous rub-on flowers on the pages. They're so useful, as they will go on all kinds of surfaces. I was actually eye-ing up some Hambly rub-ons last weekend, considering whether to add them to a scrap page. In the end they weren't quite what I wanted, but I do know where they are!

    I have a collection of Hamby rub-ons I like to use - usually I layer something else on the top for added interest.

    I can just hear the relief in your writing Rinda - normal service will soon be resumed :)

    So glad to hear your computer problems are being resolved. I have a few rub-ons, but don't use them often. Love the colors on this page, and always enjoy reading about your techniques.

    Hi Rinda! I love the piece you have posted! I have been so inspired by your art journal style, and then seeing all the She Art projects posted on other blogs has really got me excited. I just signed up for the second round of the She Art class and can't wait to get started. xo

    Rinda:I'm not sure which is the rub-on. Which means you did a great job in your page. I love your journaling. I have used rub-ons in my sons photo scrapbooks.

    I love the art journal page - gorgeous! And yes, I re-discovered the joy of rub-ons since taking the She Art workshop. It is so easy and so much fun.
