The current color challenge at Gingersnap Creations is red and black. This color combination suggested vintage to me, so I pulled out my newest Tim Holtz stamp set and used the blended batik technique (in red and black) to make a vintage circus tag. I added a variety of papers and ephemera to finish the card. I love these images (and the clock) from the stamp set, but the fifth image, not so much:
Clowns . . . uhhhhhggg. Creepy clowns. These ones kindof freak me out. Not sure I'll ever use them. What about you? How do you feel about clowns? Are there other things that freak you out?
Clowns always seem a bit menacing to me, I'm not keen! And those on the stamp you showed are more than a little creepy.
ReplyDeleteI also don't like those people who paint themselves to look like statues and stand on street corners then suddenly move and scare passers by!
I'm not bothered by clowns generally, but those ones are horribly freaky! Very wise of you not to use it... Love your circus piece xx
ReplyDeleteI always enjoyed the circus clowns, but I must say the ones on the stamp are very creepy, and I can't imagine how one might used them on a project. Makes me wonder about the artist's motivations. What kind of ideas did they have about using the stamp?
ReplyDeleteI'm ok with funny happy clowns, but even those can be a little weird at times. Hahaha.
ReplyDeleteI'm more interested in the way you used the 45 record center on your tag! Carrie just bought an old record player from our local thrift store and I was telling her about these centers. She knew what I meant only because she'd seen one used as an embellishment on a necklace one time :o)
I've always found clowns (and mimes) a bit freaky. I think it is the white face. Those on the stamp are really creepy
ReplyDeleteNo, I definitely don't like clowns and these are of the very scary variety lol
ReplyDeleteI quite like clowns at the circus....but those are really scary ones....look like something from a horror movie....can't imagine what you'd use them for!!
ReplyDeleteThe card looks great,though.
Yuck, those clowns are horrible! I don't care for clowns even when happy. What freaks me out? Prawns, cockles, anything squidgy like that.
ReplyDeleteYour card is lovely though.
These clowns of Tims have always seemed creepy to me... way back when he had them on cardstock! Especially the center one with the hole in his head ;-)
ReplyDeleteBut your artwork turned out great, and you didn't even need the creeps!
I've only ever been to one circus when I was about 6 years old and can't remember much about it. However, I hate clowns! The ones on your stamps are particularly creepy! I don't think I would be able to use them on anything lol
ReplyDeleteyikes... i am not a fan of these clowns ;S
ReplyDeleteMariana
