Birthday month is winding up at Something Completely Different, and the theme for this week's twinchie was "crowns." Through the serendipity of art, I happened to have this chipboard crown and this shrink plastic "King Tim" sitting on my art desk - right next to the last square of purple spray-inked plaster! Yes, seriously. So, I trimmed the plaster and painted its edges black, mounted it on a piece of 2x2" black cardstock, edged the cardstock in gold, painted the chipboard crown black (and then covered it with rock candy crackle paint) and then layered everything together! The stamp is from the Tim Holtz line, and I always call it "King Tim." Happy Birthday SCD! Thanks for the inspiration this month.
On another topic, yesterday, I put a little time into my blog, adding labels to about half of my posts. Will continue the project to get them all labeled. For you bloggers, I was wondering:
do you label your posts?
what are your most common labels?
is there a point where you have too many labels?
All suggestions/input appreciated.
I have 'life' and 'scrapbooking' as my main ones but also I label according to class, project, blog hop, reading, cooking and digital scrapbooking. Quite a few now that I think about it!
ReplyDeleteI have labels for 'challenges'; 'classes'; the name of specific projects I write about more than once as well as the more generic photos and scrapbooking. I don't think there can be too many, but I do prefer when they are listed as a cloud so it is easy to see which have the most entries
ReplyDeleteFraid I'm not a lot of help here,Rinda....cause I don't label at all!!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful piece. Anesha
ReplyDeleteGreat question! I did start labelling on quite general topics and now I am wondering if I wasn't specific enough. It's something I've been thinking about recently and I'm not sure what the answer is. I do know readers are using the labels from my stats so I think it's worth doing. And, yes, I think you can have too many although I haven't worked out where the happy medium is yet.
ReplyDeleteI started labeling my posts several months ago. Typepad has a little "cloud" that's created with the categories I use. Needless to say "cards" gets used most often. I don't know that anyone else uses them, but I've used them a couple of times to find things on the blog that I want to make a link to. I haven't tried to go back to label earlier posts. There are simply too many of them.
ReplyDeleteLove the art piece...and good questions. I have some labels that I use a lot such as "I'll tell you a story" (for my wordy posts), "Adventures of Whiskers Jay" (for my cat), "scrapbook", "mini-book", and "crafts; artwork." My main labels (like these) are listed as links on my blog, but the ones I use less are not - I just include them when I post...like "food" or "family".
ReplyDeleteI have a dozen or so labels that I use most of the time. I don't always remember to label my posts though so it's sort of erratic. I think too many labels makes it inefficient but too few doesn't help you sort things. I'm happy in the 12-18 range
ReplyDeleteHi Maria... i too call him "King Tim" hahaha... love your twinchie, love the purple plaster..... i do label my posts, and my most used label right now is probably altered art. It has become a recent love of mine the last year or so... keep creating. love your work :)
ReplyDeleteI label but mostly family members, pets, photo workshops, classes. That's about it.
ReplyDeleteOn my work blog, I label by discussion topic, cabinet line, or material used.
My cousin blogs and she uses labels to make sure her kids get equal blog time. LOL!
I recently started - haven't gone back to label older posts. I will go back at some point.
ReplyDeleteGreat twinchie...love the shrunken "T!m" !!!
ReplyDeleteMy most common labels are challenges and stamping. I'm wondering if I have too many labels myself but it depends on what you think people who visit might like to jump to I suppose :)
xoxo Sioux
