Welcome to the Conservatory of Flowers in San Francisco's beautiful Golden Gate Park!
When I put item #19 (a public garden) on this year's list, I did it because I wanted to challenge myself to get out and photography this beautiful space.I drive by here everyday on my way to work and park behind it, but I have never before gotten out of the car to photograph it. There are beautiful beds and a flower clock.
Even though I got there early, there were already cars and people there. Still, I was happy with the shots I got and happy that I finally wandered around this area.
What about you? What have you found on the scavenger hunt this year? Below, please link directly to a blog post about the scavenger hunt. It can be a new post for this weekend or a link back to one you put up already. Also, feel free to ask any questions. And do try to visit some of the other participants. I'm so happy that so many people are playing along this year.
Your photos today are stunning, Rinda. And your post answered my question about what you meant by "a public garden." I was thinking more in lines of a community vegetable garden, but I like this take much better...might be easier for me to find. I'm homing in on getting most all of the items for the scavenger hunt, and the ones I have left I know where to find. It's so much fun, and I love seeing everyone's finds!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful garden and the conservatory building is so beautiful. Thanks for sharing this with us and for all your hard work on organising and commenting on the Scavenger Hunt posts.
ReplyDeleteGlad you got in there for that photography - a beautiful place - it is so true that we never visit our own back gardens!
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely gardens - the flowers just draw you in.
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful spot! When Sarah lived in California we visited it several times.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos Rinda and I remember it so well from our trip to San Francisco two years ago. Looking forward to visiting the other links this evening to see what everyone else has found so far!
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful, Rinda. I love the flower clock. I haven't been there either - actually, there's still so much to discover in San Francisco for me. I just don't get there very often even though it's only an hour's drive down there.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place that is..it's quite similar to the one we have here, or at least in my head it looks similar. I need to go and get a photo now so we can compare!
ReplyDeleteThese gardens are stunning, well worth a trip and some great photos. I have my first four photos up today. Diane
ReplyDeleteBeautiful gardens. Sometimes we need to take the time to take a closer look at the things we see everyday.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful garden photographs! I am in a small town, so I am thinking to use the community garden for my public garden, I hope that will count. I am enjoying this project!
ReplyDeleteYour photos are really splendid.
ReplyDeleteOn one of our trips to SF we finally got to visit and enjoy a butterfly show they had going on inside the conservatory which was extra magical and fun.
Aren't you lucky to be around that area on a regular basis too!
Off to check out the links...thank you again Rinda for this summertime fun...

Lovely to see pictures of your 'local' park! The conservatory is beautiful:)
ReplyDeleteLovely photos and beautiful buildings.
ReplyDeleteWow! What an amazing building to have on your door step. It seems quite English to me. I know I have seen something similar at a National Trust property we have visited. Thanks for hosting the Hunt again this year. It's so much fun to take part in.
ReplyDeleteWow - what a beautiful garden!
ReplyDeleteWonderful planting and you can never go wrong with a flower clock! Love the glasshouse too - reminds me of Kew (but looks a bit nicer!)
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing glasshouse - it reminds me of Kew Gardens!
ReplyDeleteThese are excellent shots Rinda- it is often quite difficult to get good outdoor garden shots as skies can be over exposed when we focus on plants and flowers etc.
ReplyDeleteI was in a similar garden this week but was on a school excursion and it was NOT the time to be wandering off doing my own photography thing when helping to surpervise 90 10 yr olds!
That conservatory is gorgeous! I love your colorful pictures, too.
ReplyDeleteHoping to visit this in April!!
ReplyDeletebeautiful shots.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful place Rinda and your photos are just gorgeous
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos and I love that you put the item on the list to challenge yourself. It looks like it was definitely worth a stop and exploring :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a wonderful garden Rinda. Your collection so far has been stunning. I have the lot, but some might change if I come across a better photo opportunity. It's great fun....thanks.
ReplyDeleteI really need to get out there this year and get some more done! BJ
ReplyDeleteThat is one beautiful garden and so is the conservatory building.
ReplyDeletewhat a gorgeous building! It looks very English!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful gardens and that conservatory is simply stunning.

What a fabulous display. I know what you mean about passing something every day but not actually taking a good look at it. I love to see the variety of photos in the hunt that everyone submits. Thank You.
ReplyDeleteI may have been there - it would have been 20+ years ago, maybe even closer to 30. At least I was at some garden in Golden Gate Bridge Park ... but oriental themed. Your photos are fantastic!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love that building! I can't believe they let cars parked right in front of it though. I just returned from vacation and am planning a couple of new posts for the hunt ;)
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful and so great that the conservatory building wasn't damaged during the earthquake. We've driven by that park and a short drive through it (scenic drive tour) but didn't stop to enjoy it. Something for the next time.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing with us the reasons behind your choices for the prompts.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are fantastic, well done!
That conservatory building is amazing! x
