I took out my sketchbook to draw some thumbnail sketches using the prompt "spring," and I came up with these images (which I water colored). One of the exercises in the Art of Wild Abandonment class I'm taking is to make art journal pages using your sketches. So, I took my chick idea and made this page:
It's water colors on a gessoed page with ink highlights. The journaling reads "My two little chicks have grown up so fast . . . " I'm really enjoying this process.
The chicks remind me that Easter is just around the corner. I'll be traveling that week with one of my little chicks to go tour colleges! We'll be seeing Oregon State, University of Oregon and Gonzaga University. Do you have plans for Easter?

Love those cute little chicks and your bright colors. Yay for spring! :)
Love how you've used the chicks on your journal page.
We always have a big family tea at Easter.
Love your sketches, Rinda and I like the sound of the class you're taking. Is it online? Can you send me a link, please!!
Sketch is lovely, like the chicks.
Love the chicks! As yet no plans for Easter, but I'm planning to go to Scotland to see mum and dad the wee after it

No, no special plans here yet. But you have got me feeling completely ready for Spring now
Beautiful sketch, beautiful art journal page (I haven't worked in my art journal for ages, it seems).
No plans here for Easter yet. We have spring break now. Hm.
Oh sooooooooooooo very dear these sketches are, simple and joyful!
Lovely spring sketches! I'm so enjoying our early spring weather. We'll have a big family gathering on Easter at my sister-in-law's. The week after we're going to Washington, D.C. to meet some friends and got to the Annie Leibowitz photography exhibition.
I LOVE these Rinda! happy to hear you are enjoying the class - kinda thinking I should have signed up :)
Such cute little chicks!
We've thown a few ideas around for Easter, but I guess it's about time we decide what we're going to do!
No plans for Easter yet. We will be traveling this weekend to Orlando Florida to watch my son Mathew perform at Disney World. We are excited. I agree, little chicks do grow fast.
Perfect progession...sketchbook to art journal ;) Our nephew is getting married Easter weekend. I am sure we will have a lovely time but it is on the opposite side of the state from our river place where I have spent almost every Easter morning watching the sun rise above the water. Since it would be a 7 hour drive I am guess I'll be finding a sunrise service there.
your chicks are so cute and spring-like. i enjoy just sketching and doodling on a page like you did. have fun on the college tours - i went to university of idaho, not far from gonzaga.
